GIRLS TRACK: Sands wins two, Gators dominate field events to top Falcons

Ashley Sands won two individual events Wednesday to lift Green Valley’s girls track team to an 84-61 win at Foothill.

Sands won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 30.83 seconds and took the 1,600 in 5:51.12.

The Gators outscored the Falcons, 46-7 in the field events to secure the win.

Sunrise Mountain wins four-team meet

At Del Sol, Tyrah Lee won the triple jump (29 feet, 3 inches) and finished in the top three in two other field events to help Sunrise Mountain to victory in a four-team meet.

The Miners had 93 points. Clark was second with 66, followed by Del Sol with 58 and Virgin Valley with 47.

Del Sol’s Ingrid Zarate-Albarran won the 800 (2:49), 1,600 (6:06) and 3,200 (11:45), and teammate Kalijah Williams took the 100 (12.67) and 200 (26.89).

Virgin Valley’s Taylor Bryant won the 100 hurdles (16.33), high jump (4-6) and pole vault (9-10).

Skyhawks top Pioneers

At Silverado, Chase Jenkins and Monet Salazar each won two events to lead the Skyhawks to a 96-48 win over Canyon Springs.

Jenkins won the 800 (2:37.4) and 1,600 (5:35.3), and Salazar won the shot put (36-7) and discus (125-3).

Canyon Springs Alyviah Brouchet took the 100 (12.4) and 300 hurdles (48.4).

Patriots top Wildcats

At Las Vegas, Skyler Free won the 1,600 (6:02) and 800 (2:50) to lead Liberty to a 94-44 win over the Wildcats.
