GIRLS TRACK: Wharton, Thomas-Palmer help Vikings get by Rams in dual meet

Kennedy Wharton and Eimainei Thomas-Palmer each won two individual events and ran on a winning relay team on Wednesday to lead Valley to a 77½-59½ win over visiting Rancho.

Wharton won the 100-meter dash in 12.8 seconds, and took the high jump with a mark of 4 feet, 8 inches. She also was second in the 200 and ran on the winning 400 relay team.

Thomas-Palmer won the long jump (15-0) and triple jump (34-6) and was second in the high jump. She, too, ran on the 400 relay team.

Rancho’s Miracle Blalark was first in the shot put (37-2¾) and discus (129-5).

Gators roll to win in tri-meet

At Las Vegas, Danielle Varner won the 400 (1:06.8) and 800 (2:20.8) to lead Green Valley to victory in a three-team meet.

The Gators had 126 points to top Las Vegas (36) and The Meadows (20).

Las Vegas Tavaija Bennett was first in the 100 (12.9) and 200 (27.1).

Patriots pummel Sundevils

At Eldorado, Ashlie Blake, Sydney Groom and Jessica Seel all won two events to help Liberty to a 109-36 victory over the Sundevils.

Blake easily won the shot put in 50-5 and also took first in the discus in 146-9. Groom won the 200 (26.6) and the 400 (1:00.2), and Seel was first in the 100 hurdles (16.0) and the 300 hurdles (52.9).

Eldorado’s Stefani Freeman swept the long jump (15-5) and the triple jump (31-10).

Jaguars narrowly take quad meet

At Mojave, Jessica Jacocks was the lone first-place finisher for Desert Pines, winning the long jump in 15-4¾, as the Jaguars won a quad meet.

Desert Pines scored 85½ points to edge Mojave, which scored 85. Boulder City was third with 69½ followed by Western (23).

Kationa Baughman won the 100 hurdles (16.8) and the 300 hurdles (46.9) for Mojave, while Boulder City’s Sariah Gneiting took the shot put (30-1) and the discus (77-8).

Western’s Kasia Lawrynowicz was first in the 100 (12.8) and the 200 (25.5).

Faith Lutheran wins quad meet

At Overton, Bryanna Neagle and Morgan Bracey each won an individual event and ran on a winning relay to lead Faith Lutheran to victory in a four-team meet.

Neagle was first in the high jump (5-1) and ran on the winning 1,600 relay team. Bracey was first in the 800 (2:32.97) and ran on the winning 800 relay team for the Crusaders, who finished with 120 points.

Clark was second with 65, followed by Virgin Valley (64) and Moapa Valley (20).

Virgin Valley’s Taylor Bryant won the 100 hurdles (17.9), ran on the winning 400 relay team and was second in the high jump and pole vault.

Falcons top Wolves

At Basic, Foothill’s Verondrea Austin was the lone double-winner as the Falcons claimed a 91-53 victory over the Wolves.

Austin won the 100 in 12.0 and also was first in the 400 (58.9).
