Liberty’s Blake claims state’s Gatorade girls track and field honor

Liberty High School thrower Ashlie Blake has been named the Gatorade Nevada Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year.

Blake, who just completed her junior year, won the state title in both the shot put and the discus for the second consecutive year.

She won the shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 7¾ inches, and took the discus with a mark of 154-5.

Blake recently finished second in the shot put and third in the discus at the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation Nationals Outdoor meet.
