Centennial girls track and field standout Tiana Bonds has been named the Gatorade Nevada Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
It was difficult not to notice Sydney Badger and Randall Cunningham.
CARSON CITY — All the other competitors in the girls 1,600-meter relay left the podium Saturday, but Centennial’s Sydney Badger and Tiana Bonds remained on the top step so they could be honored by the crowd at Carson High for the final time.

Hannah Bunker, Alyse Vanek and Rakayla Tyler each won two individual events Wednesday to help Foothill’s girls track team to a win in a home triangular meet.

Kennedy Wharton and Eimainei Thomas-Palmer each won two individual events and ran on a winning relay team on Wednesday to lead Valley to a 77½-59½ win over visiting Rancho.
Shakiya Hollis, Malissa Oliver and Marissa Suan each won two events on Tuesday to help Palo Verde’s girls track team defeat visiting Sierra Vista, 88½-56½.
Tiana Bonds had a perfect day Saturday, running away with both hurdle events and running a leg on two winning relay teams to help Centennial’s girls track team win the Skyhawk Invitational at Silverado.
Kelbie Middleton and Stefanie Thelaner each won two events Tuesday to help Pahrump Valley’s girls track team to a 77-65 win over visiting Clark.
