ROUNDUP: Balanced effort leads Coronado girls to home win

Coronado’s girls track team won seven events, including three relays, to win a three-team home meet Tuesday.

The Cougars scored 77½ points, topping Silverado (59½) and Liberty (48).

Liberty’s Jazzlynn Wilkins and Gabrielle Palazzolo won three events apiece.

Wilkins took the 200-meter dash in 26.8 seconds, the 100 hurdles in 16.3 and the 300 hurdles in 50.0.

Palazzolo won the long jump with a mark of 16 feet, 9 inches, the triple jump at 34-4¾ and the pole vault at 8-6.

Sierra Vista tops Desert Oasis
At Sierra Vista, Zahaira Romero won the shot put and discus to lead the Mountain Lions to an 86½-52½ win over Desert Oasis.

Romero had a throw of 30-3 in the shot, and tossed the discus 75-0.

Jasmine Zachondi won the 100 hurdles in 16.8 seconds and 300 hurdles in 54.3 for the Diamondbacks.

Valley routs Eldorado
At Valley, Krystal Wharton placed first in the 100 and long jump to help the Vikings cruise to a 111-30 win over Eldorado.

Wharton won the 100 in 12.4 seconds, and took the long jump with a mark of 16-0.

Eldorado’s Candice Watkins won the shot put (34-2) and discus (102-2).
