ROUNDUP: Hammel, Pitts go for three each in Bonanza girls win

Bree Hammel and Alice Pitts won three events apiece Tuesday to power Bonanza’s girls track team to 83 points and a victory over host Clark (64) and Bishop Gorman (13).
 

Hammel won the 200-meter dash (26.2 seconds), the 400 (1 minute, 4.7 seconds) and the triple jump (31 feet, 1 inch).
 

Pitts took the 800 (2:45), high jump (4-10) and long jump (14-0).

Lucas, Ruppert help Cougars to victory
At Coronado, Lauren Lucas and Brooke Ruppert each won a pair of events to lead the host Cougars (100) in a victory over Foothill (64) and Virgin Valley (21).
 

Lucas took the 800 (2:34.5) and 1,600 (5:33.2). Ruppert won the 100 (13.1) and 200 (27.5).
 

Foothill’s Allie Suarez won the 100 hurdles (17.6) and 300 hurdles (47.7).

Aussies top trio of area teams
At Del Sol, the Aussies won 10 events on their way to 84 points and a narrow victory over Silverado (79), Del Sol (68) and Moapa Valley (36).

Byrd leads Bulldogs to victory
At Cheyenne, Alexis Byrd won two events to lead Centennial to 87 points and an easy victory over Cheyenne (48) and Arbor View (40).

Byrd took the 400 (1:01.2) and high jump (4-10).
