Valley 2013 Girls Track Capsule

VALLEY

Head coach: Roger Hansen, 10th season

Returning letter winners: 18

Top athletes: Lanesha Acker (So.), Kennedy Wharton (Jr.), Brandie Barton (Jr.), DaNice Dixon (Jr.), Jeri Betemararian (Jr.), Jayla Stevenson-Collins (Jr.)

Outlook: The Vikings bring back a talented list of letter winners.

Acker was a state placer in the 200, and Wharton (high jump) and Stevenson-Collins (discus) were state qualifiers in track last season. Betemararian competed in the state cross country meet in the fall.

"It's a good young team with balance in sprints, hurdles, distances, jumps and throws," Hansen said. "We could compete for a regional title if continued improvement takes place."
