BOYS VOLLEYBALL: McCoy, Mountain Lions top Western

Chris McCoy had 16 kills Wednesday to lead Sierra Vista’s boys volleyball team to a 25-18, 17-25, 25-23, 26-24 win over host Western.
Matt Marick had 24 digs, and Nik Fava had 13 kills for the Mountain Lions.
William Riggs led Western with 30 assists and seven digs. Kristopher Poole added 14 kills and five digs, and Sky Tillmond had 10 kills and seven digs for the Warriors.
Chaparral 3, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Jose Chavez had 14 kills, 13 digs and three blocks, and Isai Barrios provided 13 kills and eight digs as the Cowboys beat the Jaguars, 23-25, 25-13, 25-21, 25-21.
Jonas Revers added five blocks for Chaparral.
Estanislao Lansangan had 27 assists, 20 digs, seven kills and two blocks to lead Desert Pines.
Carlos Flores added seven kills, four digs and two blocks, and teammate Ortega Wiltz supplied 18 digs and eight kills for the Jaguars.
Spring Valley 3, Cheyenne 1 — At Spring Valley, Troy Lance had 10 digs, six blocks, five aces and four kills, and Theodore Pele notched 11 blocks and five kills as the Grizzlies held off the Desert Shields, 25-17, 25-21, 22-25, 26-24.
Ben Colunga added 18 assists and two aces for Spring Valley.
Tech 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Tech, Brian Kaier provided eight assists, six aces and six kills to lead the Roadrunners to a 25-18, 25-11, 25-21 sweep of the Miners.
Josh Wood supplied 17 assists and five kills, and teammate Bryant Pochop had seven kills and five aces for Tech.
Deshawn Johns led Sunrise Mountain with three digs and three kills.
Mojave 3, Clark 0 — At Mojave, Jason Zambrano recorded 36 assists, eight digs and three aces, and Alex Carvalho had 16 kills and eight digs as the Rattlers clinched the Sunset League title by topping the Chargers, 25-14, 25-13, 25-16.
Jordan Glenn had 13 kills, and Clayton Fontano added nine kills and four blocks for Mojave.
Clark’s Walter Regalado notched 15 assists and five digs, and Alan Cruz had seven kills for the Chargers.
