Longhorns down Spartans in Southwest match

Trent Compton had 16 kills and six digs, and Braden Liu added 46 assists, five digs and five aces as the Legacy boys volleyball team defeated visiting Cimarron-Memorial 25-17, 25-16, 24-26, 25-22 on Friday in a Southwest League match.

Tanner Compton added 13 kills and three aces for the Longhorns.

Kyle Henriksen had 15 kills to lead Cimarron, and teammate Salvador Garcia finished with 14 kills and four blocks. Nate Starlin chipped in with 30 assists for the Spartans.

Centennial 3, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Centennial, Chet Durkin had 29 assists, and Hunter Stratton added 11 kills and four aces to lead the Bulldogs over the Gaels 25-12, 25-19, 25-16 in a Southwest League match.

Cameron Hanselman had six kills and two blocks, and Parker Grimes contributed five kills and two blocks for Centennial.

Amadeus Sowa finished with 15 digs and seven kills, and Chris Shea had 20 assists and one ace to lead the Gaels.

Bonanza 3, Desert Oasis 1 — At Bonanza, Kellen Layne finished with 17 kills and nine digs, and the Bengals beat the Diamondbacks 21-25, 25-23, 25-15, 26-24 in a Southwest League match.

Andrew Jensen added 10 kills and five blocks, and Adam Puckoris had 26 digs to lead Bonanza.

Foothill 3, Basic 0 — At Basic, Kendell Andrews had 11 kills and six blocks to help the Falcons beat the Wolves 25-15, 25-11, 25-18 in a Southeast League match.

Ray Buccat finished with 17 digs and three aces for Foothill, and teammate Chansten Chow added eight kills and three blocks.

Taylor Dyer led Basic with six assists. Will Fitzpatrick had four kills and two aces, and Darin Klein chipped in with four kills for the Wolves.

Coronado 3, Eldorado 0 — At Coronado, Max Osmundson finished with eight kills, five digs and two aces, and Tyler Cucullu added eight kills and five digs as the Cougars swept the Sundevils 25-15, 25-19, 25-13 in a Southeast League match.

Logan Dickover had 14 assists for Coronado, and Coltin Romney totaled 13 digs. Teammate Chase Parker contributed four kills, two blocks and two aces.

David Tran and Dakota Schultz each had seven kills and five digs for Eldorado, and Michael Thomas chipped in with 24 assists.

Liberty 3, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Jaden Roberts finished with 14 kills and seven blocks, and Braden Cabais had 31 assists to help the Patriots beat the Dragons, 25-17, 22-25, 25-11, 25-13 in a Southeast League match.

K.J. Otuafi added 10 kills and five blocks, and Robin Pedro led the Liberty defense with 30 digs.

Deavan Holcomb had 13 kills and three aces, and Jesse Brown had 16 assists, three kills and three digs to lead Del Sol.

Cheyenne 3, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Deonte Perkins had seven kills and six assists to help the Desert Shields to a 19-25, 31-29, 25-22, 25-19 victory over the Jaguars.

Oscar Monzon had 12 assists and four blocks, and Darius Gantt had seven digs, five blocks and three kills for Cheyenne.

Jose Meza had 24 digs, and Bryan Garcia supplied 12 assists and five aces for Desert Pines.
