ROUNDUP: Basic outduels Green Valley, holds onto fourth in Southeast
Stephen Udall dished out 44 assists Tuesday to help Basic’s boys volleyball team hold on to fourth place in the Southeast League with a 25-23, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17 victory over visiting Green Valley.
Jordan Pils supplied 21 kills and three blocks, and Joey Thomas had nine kills and three blocks for the Wolves, who improved to 6-5 in Southeast play with a 1½-game lead over the Gators (5-7) for the league’s final playoff spot.
Nick Hevrin delivered 25 assists and two kills, and Spencer Campbell added six kills for Green Valley.
Silverado 3, Tech 0 — At Tech, Casey Hadland dished out 23 assists to help lead the Skyhawks to a 25-9, 26-24, 25-15 sweep of the Roadrunners.
Tyree Burton put down seven kills, and Eric Valdez had six digs for Silverado.
Edwin Lopez contributed five kills, and Eddie Lopez supplied 16 assists for Tech.
Coronado 3, Foothill 0 — At Foothill, Jahren Makano tallied eight aces, six digs and five blocks, and Bryan Glenn supplied five kills and three blocks as the Cougars swept the Falcons 25-7, 25-8, 25-17.
Chris Andrulis added six kills for Coronado.
F.J. Funtila had five kills and three blocks, and Joel Stoker added four kills for Foothill.
Del Sol 3, Liberty 0 — At Liberty, Nick Maglaras dished out 31 assists, Aaron Rife had 11 kills, and Cameron Ely supplied 12 digs as the Dragons beat the Patriots, 28-26, 25-23, 25-16.
Kevin Fitzpatrick tallied eight kills, and James Johnson added seven kills for Del Sol.
Paul Acluba distributed 36 assists, and Carlos Monroy had 11 kills and seven blocks for Liberty.
Cimarron-Memorial 3, Cheyenne 1 — At Cimarron, Tanner Maxwell contributed 11 kills, 12 digs, 19 assists and six aces to lead the Spartans to a 25-23, 25-10, 21-25, 25-19 win over the Desert Shields.
Braydon Egbert supplied 17 digs, and Ares Manumaleuna had 11 kills for Cimarron.
Carlos Mezquitan dished out 12 assists for Cheyenne, and teammate Ervin Leu added five assists and six kills.
Palo Verde 3, Arbor View 0 — At Palo Verde, Sean Wilson dished out 35 assists to lead the Panthers to a 25-22, 25-22, 25-17 sweep of the Aggies.
Andrew Topham supplied 12 kills and six digs for Palo Verde, and Brandon King added nine kills.
Taylor Jones registered 19 assists, and Kealyn Butler recorded eight kills for Arbor View.
Mojave 3, Legacy 2 — At Mojave, James Noles supplied 17 assists and 10 digs as the Rattlers nipped the Longhorns, 25-23, 20-25, 15-25, 25-19, 18-16.
Greg Guese provided 27 digs, Ricky White added nine kills, and Demarge Boyd had seven kills for Mojave.
Hector Bojado contributed 37 assists, and Justin Paquin added 21 kills for Legacy.
