Roundup: Cheyenne edges Mojave in 5 sets

Anthony Walker’s 20 kills Wednesday helped the Cheyenne boys volleyball team rally sneak by host Mojave in a thriller, 24-26, 26-24, 24-26, 25-18, 15-13.

Ethan Cruz had 22 digs, and Brian Orellana had 31 assists for the Desert Shields.

Mojave’s Daronde McKinney had 15 kills, eight assists and three blocks. Michael Jones had 19 assists and 18 digs, and Tredall Blanchard-Davis had 13 kills and 12 digs for the Rattlers.

Chaparral 3, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Chaparral, Juan Benitez recorded 17 kills, 15 assists and two aces, and teammate Robert McGregor tallied 18 assists, eight kills and two aces as the Cowboys staved off the Miners, 25-22, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21.

William Todd had 11 digs, Angel Porras notched seven kills and two aces, and Chris Chavarria supplied seven kills and two blocks for Chaparral.

Emerald Acasili led Sunrise Mountain with 19 digs and nine kills. Matt Glenn added nine kills, and Charles Thomas had three kills and three blocks for the Miners.

Del Sol 3, Tech 1 — At Tech, Alan Ramos-Flores had 28 assists, two kills, three blocks and two aces, and Alejandro Marin put down 12 kills as the Dragons upended the Roadrunners, 25-22, 27-25, 14-25, 25-10.

David Anderson had 11 kills, and Tyrell Hampton added eight kills for Del Sol.

Pierce Zaman had 10 kills and nine digs, and Ossian Makin supplied 21 assists and two digs for Tech. Eddy Garcia notched 11 digs, and Jerin Lacson added five kills and three digs for the Roadrunners.

Shadow Ridge 3, Green Valley 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Andrew Wyatt dished out 22 assists as the Mustangs swept the Gators, 25-22, 25-22, 25-9.

Travis Hoadley had 18 digs, and Derek Robnett added eight kills and five digs for Shadow Ridge.

Zachary Fedarko led Green Valley with 14 assists, four kills and four digs, and teammate Kyle Webb supplied six kills and six digs for the Gators.

Sky Pointe 3, Western 0 — At Sky Pointe, Jaegen Driscoll had 13 kills and four aces to lead the Eagles over the Warriors, 25-14, 25-9, 25-9.

Carson Driscoll added four kills, 23 assists and seven aces, and Brayden Dorsey had four kills and two blocks for Sky Pointe.

Jason McCoy led Western with five kills and two blocks, and teammate Julio Gamet added 10 assists.

Somerset-Losee 3, Word of Life 0 — At Somerset-Losee, Jerry Alvarado had eight kills as the Lions beat the Eagles.

Branden Bolton added nine assists and six digs, and Kyle Casis had four aces and three digs for Somerset-Losee.
