ROUNDUP: Clark claims final spot in Southwest by downing Sierra Vista

Clark’s boys volleyball team won a showdown for the Southwest League’s final berth in the Sunset Region playoffs with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-18 sweep of visiting Sierra Vista on Thursday.
Sunny Patel put down seven kills, and Matt Ruedas added six kills for the Chargers. Teammate George Huang supplied six kills and three blocks.
Clark’s David Samson tallied 21 assists and three blocks. Johnny Phane contributed seven digs, three kills and two blocks for the Chargers, and Joshua Baugus added four blocks and three kills.
Preston Miranda led Sierra Vista with 27 assists and five digs. Cody Seager added 13 kills and two digs for the Mountain Lions, and teammate Jordan Claudio tallied 11 digs and two kills.
Spring Valley 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Kyle Christensen had eight kills to lead the Grizzlies past the Diamondbacks, 25-21, 25-20, 25-21.
Trevor Zarvian distributed 16 assists, Zach Bobenhausen had 15 kills, and Steaven Rojas had four digs to lead Desert Oasis.
Durango 3, Western 2 — At Western, the Trailblazers rallied for a 25-21, 14-25, 22-25, 25-13, 15-9 victory over the Warriors.
Aaron Buckley led Western with 21 kills, and teammate Kentrell Washington tallied seven blocks.
Valley 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Valley, Carl Ajuziem had 28 assists, 10 digs, four kills, three blocks and two aces to lead the Vikings past the Miners, 25-18, 25-8, 25-18.
Taylor Herrington added 11 kills, seven digs and three aces, and Julio Fierro contributed seven kills for Valley.
Las Vegas 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Las Vegas, Braeden Wilson had 12 kills, five digs and two aces to lead the Wildcats to a 25-14, 25-19, 25-17 win over the Pioneers.
Luke Hansen spread out 32 assists and four aces, and Trevor Hardy and Chris Gbelay each added six kills for the Wildcats.
Adrian Snow led Canyon Springs with 11 kills and six blocks.
Rancho 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Rancho, Antonio Boucher had 10 kills and four blocks as the Rams swept the Jaguars, 25-8, 25-14, 25-19.
Adam Johnson added nine kills and six blocks, and Kamran Baig dished out 31 assists for Rancho.
Paul Bennett supplied 19 digs for Desert Pines, which got eight assists from Michael Tran and five kills from Dominique Lawrence.
