ROUNDUP: Cougars clinch share of Southeast title

Kevin Foutz had 16 assists, three blocks and two digs Thursday as Coronado clinched at least a share of the Southeast League boys volleyball title with a 25-20, 27-25, 25-10 home win over Foothill.

The Cougars (14-1, 11-0 Southeast) have a three-match lead over Basic and Silverado, both 8-3, with three matches remaining.

Coronado’s Dayne Ernestberg added five kills.

Foothill’s Britain Rosenberg dished out 25 assists. Cody Clay added 10 kills and five blocks, Walter Coe nine blocks and five kills and T.K. Golston six kills.

Canyon Springs 3, Valley 1 — At Canyon Springs, Raymond Esteves had 30 assists and 20 digs as the Pioneers beat the host Vikings, 25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22.

Canyon Springs’ Kapahu Kahalepo had 24 digs and Garvin Tanbangcura 30.

Valley’s Carl Ajuziem had 19 assists and seven digs. Taylor Herrington added 11 kills and seven blocks and Jim Videaux 18 assists and 10 kills.

Rancho 3, Chaparral 1 — At Chaparral, Kevin Wadsworth dished out 33 assists as the Rams beat the Cowboys, 26-24, 25-14, 20-25, 25-8.

Rancho’s Antonio Boucher had 14 kills, Kevin Plascencia added eight and Adam Johnson logged seven.

Chaparral’s Carlos Chandia had 18 assists and six digs. LeAndre Dunbar and DeAndre Marshall each had six kills.

Las Vegas 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Danny Farias had 37 assists and four digs to lead the Wildcats over the Jaguars, 25-16, 25-11, 25-19.

Braeden Wilson had 12 digs and four kills and Aaron Hansen had 10 kills and four digs for Las Vegas. 

Spring Valley 3, Western 0 — At Western, Khoa Nguyen had 12 kills and four blocks to help the Grizzlies to a 25-23, 25-17, 27-25 win over the Warriors.

Spring Valley’s Thomas Ricca added 14 kills and Dallas Teshima had 29 assists.

Western’s Deion Harrell had 16 kills and five blocks.

Bonanza 3, Durango 0 — At Bonanza, Mike Hartmann had 30 assists to help the Bengals to a 25-23, 25-4, 25-15 win over the Trailblazers.

Bonanza’s Andrew Whiting had 11 kills and five digs and Price Jarmin had 12 kills.

Bishop Gorman 3, Clark 0 — At Clark, Bobby Houser had 23 kills to lead the Gaels to a 25-23, 25-20, 25-12 victory over the Chargers.

Ryan Parks had eight kills and Ben Carter had six kills and six blocks for Gorman.

Palo Verde 3, Mojave 0 — At Palo Verde, Matt Lish had 36 assists and five aces in the Panthers’ 25-7, 25-16, 25-5 win over the Rattlers.

Palo Verde’s Tyler Capko added 10 kills and six aces, Drew Topham had five kills and eight aces, and Nick Hipwell logged six kills.
