ROUNDUP: Del Sol boys take down Desert Shields
Deavan Holcomb had 10 kills and three aces, and Jesse Brown added 13 digs and 11 assists on Monday to lead Del Sol’s boys volleyball team to a 25-19, 14-25, 25-19, 25-18 win over host Cheyenne.
La-akea Cabanas had four kills and 17 assists for the Dragons.
John Pacheco-Galindo had six blocks and four kills, and Daniel Gonzalez-Beltran had five kills and three digs for the Desert Shields.
Green Valley 3, Sierra Vista 1 — At Sierra Vista, Jake Johnson registered 24 kills, seven digs and three aces to lead the Gators past the Mountain Lions, 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23.
Arvin Nitollama supplied 33 assists and four aces for the Gators.
Clyde Balagtas finished with 17 digs and nine kills to lead Sierra Vista, which got eight kills and seven digs from Srdjan Cvijetic.
Eldorado 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Cimarron, Jacob Hollingsworth had nine kills and nine blocks to lead the Sundevils over the Spartans.
Joey Barnhurst contributed 17 assists and Cody Ence registered 10 digs for the Sundevils, who got nine kills from David Tran.
Taylor Larsen finished with 22 assists and eight digs to lead the Spartans. Salvador Garcia had seven kills, five aces and three blocks, and Efrain Armbiz had six kills and five digs for Cimarron.
Palo Verde 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Palo Verde, Andrew Weston had 30 assists and six digs to lead the Panthers over the Diamondbacks, 25-16, 25-16, 25-20.
Mitchell Tingey had 12 kills, and E.J. Vanderstelt had eight kills for Palo Verde, which got 12 digs from Mitchell Scott.
