ROUNDUP: Eslinger, Bowen lead Diamondbacks into playoffs with sweep of Durango

Danny Eslinger had 20 digs, and Taeler Bowen added 13 kills on Thursday as Desert Oasis’ boys volleyball team clinched the Southwest League’s final spot for the Sunset Region playoffs by sweeping host Durango, 25-20, 25-23, 25-20.

Desert Oasis and Durango both finished 6-8. The teams split head-to-head meetings and defeated the same opponents in league play, but the Diamondbacks got the nod by winning more sets in head-to-head matchups.

Alex Trillo had 28 assists and seven kills, and Tanner Dupris added nine kills for Desert Oasis.

Paris Estrada led Durango with 10 blocks and eight kills. Caleb Snook had 15 assists and four kills, and Brenden Kennedy added nine blocks for the Trailblazers, who got 11 digs from Dex Alston.

Canyon Springs 3, Valley 2 — At Canyon Springs, Jon Jason Duhaylungsod posted 21 blocks, 48 assists and 14 digs as the Pioneers outlasted the Vikings, 25-17, 25-22, 19-25, 23-25, 15-8.

Adam Tuala added 23 kills, 10 blocks and 14 digs for Canyon Springs. Immanuel Tufuga had 12 digs and nine kills, and Bernadino Faulato added 20 blocks and seven kills for the Pioneers.

Peter Nunes led Valley with 32 assists. Ignacio Diaz had 14 kills and six digs, and Matt Ballaro and Lorenzo Capannolo each added 10 kills for the Vikings.

Las Vegas 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Las Vegas High, Garrett Jones recorded 13 kills and nine digs as the Wildcats swept the Jaguars, 25-11, 25-16, 25-15.

Evany Diaz added 28 assists for Las Vegas, and teammate Jace Turner had 11 kills and four blocks.

Julian Jacobs paced Desert Pines with eight kills.

Sierra Vista 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Sierra Vista, Paolo Lee had 24 assists as the Mountain Lions blanked the Grizzlies, 25-14, 25-13, 25-14.

Joshua Sison supplied 15 digs, and Garrett Clifton added seven kills for Sierra Vista.

Jerrett Wallace contributed seven kills, and DeShaun Nowlin posted six digs to lead Spring Valley.

Bonanza 3, Clark 0 — At Bonanza, Kenny DeSoto notched 31 digs, and Mitchell Barnes supplied 21 assists and four aces to lead the Bengals to a 25-16, 25-10, 25-23 win over the Chargers.

Brycen Duckworth had 14 kills for Bonanza.

Bishop Gorman 3, Western 0 — At Gorman, Matt Lychock had nine kills and three aces to help the Gaels to a 25-17, 25-15, 25-14 sweep of the Warriors.

Brian Fulmara added six kills and four blocks for Gorman.

Vadell Wilson paced Western with six kills and four blocks. Braeden Smith added seven assists and two blocks for the Warriors.

Rancho 3, Chaparral 0 — At Rancho, Guillermo Silva had 13 kills and seven aces as the Rams swept the Cowboys, 25-14, 25-16, 25-11.

Kendall Reynolds added 11 assists, nine digs and three aces for Rancho, which got 12 assists from Jarik Wasson.

Saiquan Charingto had 10 kills, and Greg Doss added six blocks and four kills for Rancho.

Eldorado 3, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Michael Thomas dished out 45 assists to lead the balanced Sundevils past the Miners, 25-21, 25-18, 22-25, 25-21.

David Tran, Joey Smith, Jacob Hollingsworth and Dakota Schultz each had 10 kills for Eldorado, which got 12 digs from Cody Ence.
