ROUNDUP: Gronert helps Gators outlast Dragons
Beau Gronert tallied 12 kills and five digs Wednesday as Green Valley’s volleyball team outlasted visiting Del Sol, 25-20, 16-25, 25-20, 19-25, 15-12.
Nick Hevrin distributed 42 assists and served up two aces for Green Valley. Wesley Reed added 13 kills and three aces, and Jon Cheun had 31 digs for the Gators.
Kevin Fitzpatrick paced the Dragons with 10 kills, five digs and four blocks.
Eric Beil added 12 kills and 17 digs, and Nick Maglaras dished out 38 assists and 14 digs for Del Sol. Cameron Ely had 13 digs for Del Sol.
Silverado 3, Liberty 0 — At Silverado, Casey Hadland distributed 23 assists to lead the Skyhawks to a 25-9, 25-12, 25-18 sweep of the Patriots.
Lionel Miranda had seven digs, and Eric Valdez supplied six kills for Silverado.
Paul Acluba contributed 20 assists, and Harley Tagab put down seven kills for Liberty.
Basic 3, Foothill 0 — At Basic, Stephen Udall dished out 26 assists to help the Wolves to a 25-19, 25-20, 25-17 sweep of the Falcons.
Jordan Pils had 10 kills, and Tanner Humphreys added nine kills for the Wolves.
Joey Thomas supplied nine kills and nine digs, and Jarin Sillitoe contributed six digs for Basic.
Coronado 3, Tech 0 — At Coronado, Bryan Arana struck down 10 kills, and Charles Andrulis added nine kills and three blocks to lead the Cougars to a 25-8, 25-16, 25-6 rout of the Roadrunners.
Anthony Le dished out 22 assists, and teammate Tyler McCormick had seven aces and eight digs for Coronado.
Eddie Lopez had six assists for Tech.
Shadow Ridge 3, Palo Verde 0 — At Shadow Ridge, the Mustangs cruised to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 win over the Panthers.
Sean Wilson dished out 28 assists for Palo Verde, which got 11 kills from Andrew Topham and eight kills from Nick Hipwell.
Centennial 3, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Tyler Rogers registered 12 kills in the Bulldogs’ 25-9, 25-18, 25-9 romp over the Rattlers.
Leo Durkin dished out 21 assists and had three aces, and Mike Robinson added seven kills and seven aces for Centennial.
Demarge Boyd paced Mojave with six kills and two blocks, and Greg Guese added six digs.
Arbor View 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Arbor View, Kirby Mengert had 10 kills and 17 digs to help lead the Aggies to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-21 sweep of the Desert Shields.
Taylor Jones dished out 27 assists, and Bradley Williams added nine kills for Arbor View.
Carlos Mezquitan had 13 assists, and Ervin Leu supplied five kills for Cheyenne.
Cimarron-Memorial 3, Legacy 1 — At Legacy, Ares Manumaleuna had 13 kills, Tanner Maxwell added 12 kills and Brian Grupe spiked 10 kills to help the Spartans to a 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23 win over the Longhorns.
Maxwell also had 21 assists, and Grupe added 14 digs for Cimarron, which got 20 assists and six kills from Aaron Bowers.
Hector Bojado dished out 27 assists, and Dylan Witecki contributed 13 kills for Legacy.
