ROUNDUP: Houser’s 21 kills help Gorman fend off Durango
Bobby Houser racked up 21 kills Monday in helping Bishop Gorman’s boys volleyball team hold off host Spring Valley, 25-23, 25-21, 25-21.
Ben Carter added eight kills and Alex Turner had seven for the Gaels. Cameron Tom dished out 37 assists for Gorman.
Jayvin Garcia struck down eight kills and Khoa Nguyen had seven kills for the Grizzlies.
Clark 3, Durango 2 — At Clark, David Sampson dished out 33 assists, and Matt Ruedas had 11 kills as the Chargers outlasted Durango, 25-21, 22-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-11.
George Huang and Sunny Patel each added seven kills for Clark.
Kevin Peterson led the Trailblazers with 13 kills. Jarrett Quiacusan added 45 digs, and Gary House had six blocks for Durango.
Bonanza 3, Western 1 — At Western, Cru Leavitt distributed 26 assists as the Bengals rallied for a 24-26, 25-14, 25-20, 25-8 win over the Warriors.
Jared Hyer added 12 kills for Bonanza.
Aaron Buckley had nine kills, and Kentrell Washington posted six blocks for the Warriors.
Sierra Vista 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Preston Miranda had 39 assists and three digs, and Jordan Claudio added 13 kills and three digs to lead the Mountain Lions past the Diamondbacks, 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.
Trevor Zarvian had 13 assists and four digs, and Zach Bobenhausen contributed eight kills for Desert Oasis.
Las Vegas 3, Chaparral 0 — At Las Vegas, Ronnie Adams had eight kills, five digs and three aces and Luke Hansen added 20 assists and two aces to lead the Wildcats in a rout of the Cowboys, 25-2, 25-4, 25-12.
Tyler Wilson had nine digs and three aces, Daniel Wynn contributed four aces, and Braeden Wilson added five kills for Las Vegas.
Rancho 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Kamran Baig led Rancho with 36 assists as the Rams defeated the Miners, 25-4, 25-15, 25-8.
Kevin Plascencia had 10 kills and three aces, and Adam Johnson supplied eight blocks and nine kills for Rancho. Antonio Boucher added 11 kills for the Rams.
Valley 3, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Lawrence Palma had 13 kills to lead the Vikings to a 25-14, 16-25, 25-21, 25-21 win over the Jaguars.
Carl Ajuziem had 27 assists and five blocks, and Jake Hight added eight digs for Valley.
Paul Bennett led Desert Pines with 30 digs, and teammate Dominique Lawrence supplied 10 kills, six aces and three blocks. Michael Tran dished out 19 assists for the Jaguars.
Canyon Springs 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Jon Duhaylungsod had 34 assists to lead the Pioneers past the Sundevils, 25-12, 25-20, 25-14.
Eric Gutierrez had 12 kills, and Adam Tuala added 10 kills for Canyon Springs.
Green Valley 3, Tech 0 — At Green Valley, Nick Hevrin had 24 assists to help the Gators to a sweep of the Roadrunners, 25-7, 25-13, 25-14.
Beau Gronert had 10 kills and three aces for the Gators, and Spencer Campbell added five kills.
Adan Hernandez had four kills and two blocks for Tech.
