ROUNDUP: Leu, Desert Shields fend off visiting Spartans

Ervin Leu had 10 kills, three assists and three blocks Thursday to help Cheyenne’s boys volleyball team outlast visiting Cimarron-Memorial, 22-25, 25-11, 25-13, 17-25, 15-12.

Casey Johansen tallied six kills, three assists and three blocks, and Kevin Machuca had five kills and three assists for Cheyenne.

Brian Grupe posted 15 kills and 15 digs for Cimarron. Ares Manumaleuna added 13 kills and Chad Colwell supplied eight for the Spartans, and teammate Braydon Egbert had 18 digs.

Legacy 3, Mojave 2 — At Legacy, Billy Purcell supplied 16 kills, and Hector Bojado dished out 32 assists to help the Longhorns sneak past the Rattlers, 25-22, 26-28, 25-14, 17-25, 15-6.

Brandon Paquin posted six blocks, and Dylan Witackie added seven assists and seven kills for Legacy.

Greg Guese registered 29 digs for Mojave. James Noles distributed 23 assists, and Marcus Strickland had 16 kills for the Rattlers.

Green Valley 3, Basic 2 — At Green Valley, Nick Hevrin had 35 assists to lead the host Gators past the Wolves, 25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 25-27, 15-13.

Beau Gronert spiked 11 kills, and Spencer Campbell and Wesley Reed added nine each for Green Valley. Jon Cheun supplied 13 digs for the Gators.

Jordan Pils had 24 kills and 16 digs, Joey Thomas contributed 13 kills and nine digs, and Jarin Sillitoe added 17 kills for Basic.

Coronado 3, Foothill 0 — At Coronado, Bryan Arana had 10 kills and eight digs to lead the Cougars to a 25-14, 25-14, 25-14 win over the Falcons.

Hunter Chaney had six kills, 22 assists and five digs, and Jahren Makanoa and Byran Glenn each contributed five kills for Coronado.

Joel Stoker led Foothill with five kills. Britain Rosenberg distributed 11 assists for the Falcons.

Silverado 3, Tech 0 — At Silverado, Casey Hadland registered 20 assists, 12 digs and five kills as the Skyhawks swept the Roadrunners, 25-7, 25-15, 25-13.

Kyle Divicino added nine kills for Silverado.

Abel Hernandez had 10 digs and two kills for Tech.

Del Sol 3, Liberty 0 — At Del Sol, Eric Beil had 12 kills, Zack Deittrick supplied eight and Kevin Fitzpatrick added seven as the Dragons swept the Patriots, 25-18, 25-20, 28-26.

Nick Maglaras dished out 37 assists, and Beil added nine digs.

Paul Acluba had 16 assists and six kills for Liberty, and Brenden Reano supplied five blocks and five kills.

Shadow Ridge 3, Centennial 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Jeremy Makaiwi distributed 35 assists, and Taylor Lancaster tallied 18 digs and 13 kills to lead the Mustangs past the Bulldogs, 25-19, 26-24, 25-14.

Jacob Bingham added 15 digs for Shadow Ridge. 

Palo Verde 3, Arbor View 0 — At Arbor View, Sean Wilson had 38 assists and seven digs to help the Panthers cruise past the Aggies, 25-17, 25-18, 25-11.

Andrew Topham supplied 12 kills and six digs, and Brandon King added 10 kills and four blocks for Palo Verde.
