VOLLEYBALL: Beyah, Cougars wrap up Southeast title

Karriem Beyah had 18 kills and 10 digs Wednesday as Coronado’s boys volleyball team wrapped up the Southeast League title with a 23-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-16 home win over Foothill.

Sam Cox added 51 assists, 15 digs and two blocks, and Travis Little added 11 kills, 13 digs and two aces for the Cougars, who got 14 digs from Cole Gerrard.

Shilo Chow had 32 assists and four blocks, and Zachary Thompson added six kills and six blocks for the Falcons. Weston Lott had seven kills, and teammate Zachary Sangster contributed 12 digs for Foothill.

Arbor View 3, Desert Oasis 2 — At Desert Oasis, Sam Buckels had 22 kills and three digs to help the Aggies outlast the Diamondbacks, 21-25, 25-15, 25-17, 23-25, 15-10.

Kaneen Manuel added 13 kills and five aces, and Michael Prescia had eight digs for Arbor View.

Saunoa Afoa had 13 kills and 12 assists, and Billy Cameron had 20 kills for Desert Oasis. Nainoa Gardner contributed 13 kills and five digs, and Alley Asulin dished out 27 assists for the Diamondbacks.

Sierra Vista 3, Cheyenne 2 — At Cheyenne, Chris McCoy had 15 kills to help the Mountain Lions outlast the Desert Shields, 26-24, 25-18, 23-25, 24-26, 15-13.

Nate Alonso had 34 assists, and Matt Marick had 17 digs for Sierra Vista.

Devante Hammond had 10 kills and six blocks, and Romello James added nine kills and five blocks for Cheyenne.

Centennial 3, Bonanza 1 — At Bonanza, Tanner Durkin had 20 kills and four aces to help the Bulldogs to a 25-18, 18-25, 25-11, 25-23 win over the Bengals.

Grant Nelson dished out 43 assists, and Cody Graham had 16 digs for Centennial.

Bonanza’s Andrew Jensen and Robby Adair each had 12 kills, and teammate Luis Raygoza added 32 assists. Tyler Simmons had eight digs for the Bengals.

Mojave 3, Western 0 — At Mojave, Jason Zambrano had 22 assists, eight digs and two aces, and Alex Carvalho added eight kills and four aces as the Rattlers swept the Warriors, 25-11, 25-13, 25-8.

Jordan Glenn had six kills and three blocks, and teammate Absalon Williams added five kills for Mojave.

Western’s Kristopher Poole had six kills and three digs, and William Riggs had nine assists for the Warriors.

Clark 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Walt Benda had 12 kills, 10 digs and three aces, and Henok Mucheye notched 12 kills to help the Chargers defeat the Grizzlies, 25-11, 25-22, 25-12.

Daniel Pedroza added nine digs for Clark.

Troy Lance had five assists, four kills and four blocks for Spring Valley, and teammate Theodore Pele supplied seven blocks.

Rancho 3, Basic 0 — At Rancho, Martin Rodriguez had 10 digs, eight kills and three aces, and Ryan Hafen had nine kills and seven digs as the Rams swept the Wolves, 25-15, 25-16, 25-22.

Lamont Traylor added nine kills and two blocks for Rancho.

Wyatt Williams had nine assists, Bo Peterson tallied seven assists, and Matt Esplin supplied six kills for Basic.

Green Valley 3, Eldorado 0 — At Green Valley, Jason Patrino had three kills to help the Gators to a 25-14, 25-13, 25-17 victory over the Sundevils.

Aidan Courtney added two digs for Green Valley.

Dakota Shults led Eldorado with 15 kills.
