VOLLEYBALL: Buckels, Aggies take Northwest lead after downing Bonanza

Sam Buckels put down 22 kills, and Kaneen Manuel added 16 kills Monday as host Arbor View’s boys volleyball team outlasted Bonanza, 25-23, 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 15-7 in a battle for first place in the Northwest League.

Ben Martin dished out 48 assists, and Brenden Gougeon contributed 18 digs for the Aggies, who improved to 6-1 in league play, one match ahead of both Bonanza and Centennial with each team having one match remaining.

Andrew Jensen led Bonanza with 21 kills and 11 digs. Robby Adair recorded 15 kills and eight digs, Bronson Duckworth added 11 kills, and Luis Raygoza had 43 assists for the Bengals.

Western 3, Spring Valley 2 — At Western, Gerardo Cardenas had six kills and seven aces to lead the Warriors past the Grizzlies, 25-13, 26-24, 16-25, 26-28, 15-10.

Kristopher Poole had 12 kills and 11 digs, and William Riggs had four kills, 34 assists and nine digs for Western.

Troy Lance had 12 kills, 13 assists, four digs and four blocks, and Theodore Pele had six blocks for Spring Valley.

Green Valley 3, Foothill 1 — At Foothill, Dustin Elliot had 10 kills, six aces and seven digs to power the Gators to a 25-14, 21-25, 25-15, 25-21 win over the Falcons.

Chase Larson had nine kills and four blocks, and Zachary Hewitt added 31 assists and seven digs for Green Valley.

Shilo Chow led Foothill with 35 assists, two aces, seven digs and five blocks. Branson Diaz contributed eight kills and five blocks, and Colin Curi had 11 kills and five digs for the Falcons.

Clark 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Clark, Walt Benda had six kills, five digs and seven aces to lead the Chargers over the Desert Shields, 25-12, 25-16, 25-11.

Walter Regalado added 13 assists and three aces, and Henok Mucheye recorded two aces and four blocks for Clark.

Mojave 3, Sierra Vista 0 — At Sierra Vista, Alex Carvalho had 10 kills, three aces and seven digs to lead the Rattlers past the Mountain Lions, 25-18, 25-19, 25-7.

Jordan Glenn had nine kills, and Jason Zambrano had 25 assists and 10 digs for Mojave, which got eight digs and three aces from Anthony Reed.

Lerone Gibson had five kills and two blocks, and Nate Alonso had 11 assists for Sierra Vista.

Centennial 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Centennial, Tanner Durkin put down 13 kills as the Bulldogs swept the Spartans, 25-5, 25-16, 25-13.

Neuman McMillan added seven kills, and Kyle McKamey had 17 assists for Centennial.

Joe Tito had three kills and eight digs, and Dashawn Creswell recorded three kills and five digs for Cimarron, which got 11 assists and three digs from Will Baird.

Coronado 3, Basic 0 — At Basic, Karriem Beyah had 23 kills, eight digs and two blocks to lead the Cougars past the Wolves, 25-22, 25-12. 25-19.

Trey Hunter had seven kills and five blocks, and Matt Johnson had seven kills and two blocks for Coronado.

Rielly Riepenhoff had six kills, and Wyatt Williams added 13 assists and four blocks for Basic.

Rancho 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Douglas Candido had 27 assists and eight digs as the Rams swept the Sundevils, 25-18, 25-17, 25-14.

Ryan Hafen added 10 kills and four digs, and Lamont Traylor recorded seven kills for Rancho.

Dakota Shults put down 23 kills for Eldorado. Dylon Richardson dished out 29 assists, and Charles Sweet had four blocks for Eldorado.
