VOLLEYBALL: Burgess, Cottle help Las Vegas boys tame Bengals

Blake Burgess had 18 kills and five blocks, and Jason Cottle added six kills and six blocks Friday as host Las Vegas’ boys volleyball team rallied for a 20-25, 25-27, 25-13, 25-15, 15-8 victory over Bonanza.
Evan Kindard had 19 digs, and Guillermo Gonzalez supplied 12 digs for the Wildcats.
Kellen Layne paced the Bengals with 19 kills and 13 digs. Adam Puckoris had 23 digs, and Brian Clow contributed seven kills, 12 digs and two aces for Bonanza.
Legacy 3, Arbor View 2 — At Legacy, Braden Liu registered 50 assists, 16 digs and two blocks to help the Longhorns rally past the Aggies 27-25, 17-25, 18-25, 25-20, 16-14.
Tanner Compton supplied 16 kills, 15 digs and five blocks, and teammate Trent Compton had 14 kills and 18 digs for Legacy, which defeated Arbor View for the first time in the program’s history.
Darrell Swanson contributed 20 kills for the Aggies, and Sam Buckels added 16 kills and six blocks.
Foothill 3, Liberty 0 — At Liberty, Taeg Williams dished out 38 assists, and Kendell Andrews had 13 kills to lead the Falcons to a 25-12, 25-12, 25-21 victory over the Patriots in a Southeast League match.
Chansten Chow added 11 kills, and Caleb Hutchinson had 10 kills for Foothill.
Mike Meatovich had seven kills, and Alex Tejada added six kills for Liberty.
Silverado 3, Palo Verde 0 — At Palo Verde, Curtis Hadland had 12 kills and two blocks to help the Skyhawks roll past the Panthers, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22.
Austin Hunt helped Silverado with five kills and four blocks, and teammate Shawn Steckel added 16 assists and two blocks.
Brigham Clawson led Palo Verde with 14 kills.
