VOLLEYBALL: Catic, Chargers outlast Western in five sets

Omar Catic had 10 kills and five digs Thursday to help Clark’s boys volleyball team to a 25-17, 23-25, 25-16, 16-25, 15-8 win over visiting Western.

Min Hyeok Cox added nine digs and four aces for Clark.

Gerardo Cardenas had 16 assists and 13 digs, and Anthony Dodson added six kills and nine blocks for the Warriors. Leonel Acosta-Trevino had six digs and five blocks, and Christian Macias added nine digs for Western.

Arbor View 3, Legacy 2 — At Legacy, Brenden Wagner had 24 kills and nine digs as the Aggies rallied for an 18-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23, 16-14 win over the Longhorns.

Brenden Gougeon had 40 assists, 14 digs and two aces, and Treven Clizbe had 14 kills and 12 digs for Arbor View, which got 20 digs from Michael Prescia.

Omari Wheeler had 22 kills, 13 digs and three aces, and Anthony Guevara had 16 kills, 10 digs and three aces to pace Legacy. Nephi Purcell supplied 49 assists, seven digs and three aces, and Dominic Harris had 12 digs and three blocks for the Longhorns.

Silverado 3, Liberty 1 — At Liberty, Kris Coe had 12 kills, and Taz Goon added 10 kills and 15 digs to help the Skyhawks to a 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-16 win over the Patriots.

Cody Steckel had 29 assists, and teammate Michael Gonzalez added 27 digs for Silverado.

Jamen DeBina had 11 kills and six blocks, and Lucas Husli added nine kills and five blocks for Liberty, which got 29 assists from Vincent Lovett.

Bishop Gorman 3, Shadow Ridge 0 — At Gorman, Charles Pollnow had 20 kills, 12 digs and three aces to power the Gaels to a 25-21, 25-23, 25-20 win over the Mustangs.

Trevor Papcok had 34 assists and three aces, and Gavin Thompson added 12 digs for Gorman.

Brendan Harville had six kills, and teammate Cutler Leavitt supplied five kills to pace Shadow Ridge.

Valley 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Valley, Justin Sandoval had 29 assists to guide the Vikings to a 25-11, 25-7, 25-15 sweep of the Pioneers.

Jared Marchello had 15 kills, and Marty Heavey added 13 kills for Valley.

Sierra Vista 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Sierra Vista, Nik Fava had 11 kills, 11 digs and six aces to lead the Mountain Lions past the Grizzlies, 25-11, 25-16, 25-20.

Brendan Cowden added 27 assists and two aces, and Troy Lance had eight assists for Sierra Vista.

Mojave 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Antonyo Wright had 11 kills and four aces to lead the Rattlers to a 25-12, 25-17, 25-12 sweep of the Desert Shields.

Absalon Williams had six kills and five blocks, Jason Zambrano added 22 assists and Anthony Reed had 15 digs for Mojave.

Cheyenne’s Devante Hammond had six kills and three blocks, and Russell Oliver had four blocks for the Desert Shields.
