VOLLEYBALL: Chargers rally from two sets down to top Mountain Lions

Daniel Diaz-Villa had 13 kills Monday to lead Clark’s boys volleyball team to a 24-26, 21-25, 25-17, 25-15, 15-9 victory over host Sierra Vista.

Henok Mucheye had seven kills and five blocks for the Chargers, who got six kills from Walt Benda and 32 assists from Walter Regalado.

Jordan Kirtley led the Montain Lions with 13 kills. Joey Harvanek and Chris Cooke each added four kills for Sierra Vista.

Valley 3, Liberty 1 — At Liberty, Marty Heavey had 22 kills, 11 digs and three blocks to help the Vikings to a 25-20, 25-15, 18-25, 25-23 win over the Patriots.

Alex Sandoval had 41 assists, and teammate Rodney Quito added seven kills and 16 digs for Valley.

Ryan Taggert had 12 kills and three blocks to lead Liberty. Brandon Baliza had 11 kills for the Patriots, who got 35 assists from Brycen Ivester.

Coronado 3, Green Valley 1 — At Green Valley, Karriem Beyah had 22 kills and four blocks to lead the Cougars to a 19-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-16 win over the Gators.

Jon Meath added 16 kills and two blocks, and Samuel Cox had 44 assists, 12 digs and three blocks for Coronado. Cole Gerrard added 20 digs for the Cougars.

Dustin Elliott led Green Valley with 17 kills, and teammate Tyler Dancel added three aces and 11 digs.

Eldorado 3, Basic 1 — Dylon Richardson supplied 28 assists to allow the Sundevils to rally to beat the Wolves, 19-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-18.

Charles Sweet had 12 kills and five blocks, and teammate Dakota Shults notched 11 kills and four aces for Eldorado.

Basic’s Brad McDonald had seven kills, and Aeneas McAllister added five blocks for the Wolves.

Cheyenne 3, Western 1 — At Western, Lanson Keomaka had 15 assists, and Romello James contributed five blocks as the Desert Shields held off the Warriors, 26-24, 25-16, 20-15, 25-20.

William Riggs had 22 assists, and teammate Kristopher Poole added 10 kills and three aces for Western. Gerardo Cardenas added five kills for the Warriors.

Mojave 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Clayton Fontano had 18 kills and seven digs, and Jason Zambrano added 34 assists as the Rattlers swept the Grizzlies, 25-12, 25-12, 25-6.

Alex Carvalho added nine kills for Mojave.

Troy Lance led Spring Valley with five blocks, four assists and two digs. James McDonald had three kills and two digs, and teammate Stevan Paukovic three kills for Spring Valley.

Bonanza 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Luis Raygoza had 22 assists to lead the Bengals to a 25-22, 25-11, 25-8 sweep of the Diamondbacks.

Robby Adair supplied 11 digs, four kills and four aces for Bonanza, which got 10 kills and four blocks from Andrew Jensen.
