VOLLEYBALL: Eldorado boys tame Wolves, move into tie for third in Southeast

Michael Thomas finished with 33 assists and 12 digs, and David Tran supplied 12 kills and 11 digs as Eldorado’s boys volleyball team moved into a three-way tie for third place in the Southeast League with a 25-20, 17-25, 25-20, 25-16 victory over host Basic on Thursday.

Dakota Schultz and Jacob Hollingsworth each had 11 kills for Eldorado, which is deadlocked with Basic and Liberty at 3-5 with two league matches remaining.

Taylor Dyer finished with 14 assists to lead Basic. Teammate Darin Klein added five kills and three aces, and Dylan Green had three blocks for the Wolves.

Coronado 3, Liberty 0 — At Coronado, Logan Dickover finished with 33 assists and two aces, and Tyler Cucullu added 12 kills, six digs and two aces in the Cougars’ 25-11, 25-17, 25-18 victory over the Patriots.

Max Osmundson recorded nine kills and five digs, and Chance Phifer chipped in with seven kills for Coronado.

Braden Cabais had 16 assists, and Robin Pedro contributed 15 digs for Liberty.

Foothill 3, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Chansten Chow had 12 kills, three digs and three blocks to help the Falcons down the Dragons, 25-11, 25-14, 25-19.

Taeg Williams added 20 assists for Foothill.

La’akea Cabanas finished with 14 kills, eight blocks and eight digs to lead Del Sol.

Bonanza 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Bonanza, Kellen Layne recorded 11 kills, three aces and three blocks, and Alec Taylor added 26 assists, five digs and two aces to lift the Bengals to a 25-11, 27-25, 25-11 win over the Spartans.

Andrew Jensen chipped in seven kills and one block for Bonanza.

Salvador Garcia led Cimarron with 12 kills and two aces. Nate Starlin totaled 19 assists and five digs for the Spartans, and teammate William Baird had three blocks.

Legacy 3, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Legacy, Braden Liu tallied 34 assists and nine digs to propel the Longhorns to a 25-18, 25-22, 25-16 sweep of the Gaels.

Tanner Compton posted 17 digs, and Trent Compton contributed nine kills and eight digs for Legacy.

Cody Tom had 25 assists, Anthony Pitaro compiled 12 kills, and Amadeus Sowa notched 10 kills to lead Bishop Gorman.

Centennial 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Centennial, Blake Frischknecht had 19 kills and seven digs to help the Bulldogs defeat the Diamondbacks, 25-17, 25-14, 25-19.

Cameron Hanselman added five kills, and Chet Durkin had 30 assists for Centennial.

Desert Pines 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Desert Pines, Justin Ngarmnet had 22 digs and seven kills to help the Jaguars blank the Miners, 25-21, 25-19, 25-20.

Bryan Garcia supplied 18 assists and three aces for Desert Pines.

Sierra Vista 3, Clark 0 — At Sierra Vista, Julius Sison had 25 assists to lead the Mountain Lions to a 25-16, 25-15, 25-12 sweep of the Chargers.

Gian Soriano added 14 digs for Sierra Vista.

Tech 3, Chaparral 2 — At Chaparral, the Roadrunners rallied to edge the Cowboys, 25-27, 25-17, 25-21, 15-25, 15-7.

Pierce Morgan led Chaparral with 44 assists, three aces and two blocks.

Matt Sanger added 16 kills, and Dominic Carr had nine kills and seven blocks for the Cowboys, who got six kills and three blocks from Meldrick Nava.
