VOLLEYBALL: Harris, Desert Shields beat Miners in five sets

Cheyenne’s Cory Harris had six kills, 10 assists and four blocks Tuesday to lead the Desert Shields to a 25-14, 25-15, 8-25, 20-25, 15-11 win over visiting Sunrise Mountain in boys volleyball.

Devonte Bates had three kills and three aces for the Desert Shields, and teammate Terry Dodd served two aces.

Western 3, Desert Pines 1 — At Western, Azariah Devine had 14 kills to guide the Warriors to a 26-24, 18-25, 25-16, 25-20 win over the Jaguars.

William Riggs notched 17 assists, and Sky Tillmond added eight kills for Western.

Desert Pines’ Estanislao Lansangan supplied 11 assists, and Jose Diaz had six kills for the Jaguars.

Silverado 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Silverado, Austin Hunt had 11 kills to help the Skyhawks sweep the Pioneers, 25-5, 25-11, 25-11.

Tyler Gralapp had eight kills and Taz Goon added six digs for Silverado.

Canyon Springs’ Diego Rivas had two kills.

Las Vegas 3, Green Valley 0 — At Las Vegas, Shayne Marquez had 36 assists and three kills, and Chris Kampshoff provided 11 kills and six digs to help the Wildcats sweep the Gators, 28-26, 25-20, 25-15.

T.J. Esporas had nine kills, and Guillermo Gonzalez added seven kills for Las Vegas.

Green Valley’s Dustin Elliott had seven kills and four digs. Zachary Hewitt had eight kills, and Ethan Hunt supplied seven kills for the Gators.

Valley 3, Rancho 0 — At Valley, Jack Heavey had 11 kills and six digs, and Matt Ballaro added 11 kills and four digs to help the Vikings to a 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 sweep of the Rams.

Alex Sandoval had 32 assists and nine digs for Valley, and teammates Marty Heavey, Zack Ross and Jesse Smith each added five kills.

Aaron Robles had 21 assists and two aces, and Austin Moncrief added eight kills for Rancho.

Shadow Ridge 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Nathan Makaiwi had 35 assists to lead the Mustangs to a 25-19, 25-13, 25-18 win over the Grizzlies.

A.J. Makaiwi had 28 digs, and Cody Heathcock added 13 kills for Shadow Ridge.

Spring Valley’s James Nunez had 13 assists, and Bradd Robison supplied seven kills and five blocks for the Grizzlies.

Palo Verde 3, Durango — At Palo Verde, Andrew Weston had 36 assists, and Brigham Clawson added eight kills and four aces as the Panthers swept the Trailblazers, 25-15, 25-16, 25-16.

Michael Simister and Parker Nelson each added eight kills for Palo Verde.

Mojave 3, Chaparral 0 — At Mojave, Lorenzo Guerrero provided 23 digs to lead the Rattlers to a 25-16, 25-19, 25-22 victory over the Cowboys.

Alex Carvalho, Jordan Glenn and Clayton Fontano each added eight kills for Mojave.

Jesus Botello had 18 digs, and teammate Pierce Morgan had 10 digs to lead Chaparral.

Clark 3, Tech 0 — At Clark, Walter Regalado had 16 assists to lead the Chargers to a 25-10, 25-23, 25-23 victory over the Roadrunners.

Walt Benda and Jose Sahagun each added five kills for Clark. Sahagun also had eight assists.

Andre Shabazz notched 17 assists for Durango, which got five kills each from Frank Patricio and Michael Diggins, and three blocks from Dillon Lovera.

Tyler Gardenhire led Tech with 11 kills. Brandon Finley added five kills and nine digs, and Joshua Wood had four kills and 14 assists for the Roadrunners.

Arbor View 3, Sierra Vista 0 — At Sierra Vista, Darien Bradley had 15 kills as the Aggies defeated the Mountain Lions, 25-13, 25-22, 25-12.

Darrell Swanson added nine kills and two aces, and teammate Chris Heron supplied two kills, two aces and 25 assists for Arbor View.

Sierra Vista’s Clyde Balagtas had seven kills, and Kelvin Liang added 11 digs for the Mountain Lions.
