VOLLEYBALL: Osmundson’s 20 kills help defending champs start season strong

Max Osmundson had 20 kills Thursday to help Coronado’s boys volleyball team to a 27-29, 25-20, 25-22, 25-21 win at Centennial.
Travis Boman supplied 17 kills and two blocks for the Cougars, and teammate Logan Dickover added 50 assists, 13 digs and two blocks.
Parker Grimes had 15 kills, and Tanner Durkin recorded 41 assists, four aces and five digs for the Bulldogs.
Cimarron-Memorial 3, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Roy Gonzalez recorded 10 kills and four blocks to lead the Spartans by the Dragons, 25-14, 25-23, 24-26, 25-20.
Dallas Cervantes added six kills and two blocks, and Nate Starlin dished out 29 assists for Cimarron.
Kyle Collins led Del Sol with 11 kills and five aces, and teammate Jared Moreda added seven kills and seven blocks.
Rancho 3, Tech 1 — At Rancho, Martin Rodriguez had eight kills, five aces and two blocks to power the Rams by the Roadrunners 23-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-14.
Aaron Robles supplied four kills, seven aces and 20 assists, and Ryan Hafen added eight kills for Rancho.
Basic 3, Green Valley 2 — At Basic, Auston Farrington had 15 kills, seven blocks and two aces to lead the Wolves over the Gators.
Austin Delacarrera added eight kills and two blocks, and Taylor Dyer had 34 assists and 15 digs for Basic. Austin MacDonald had 21 digs for the Wolves.
Brian Ellington paced Green Valley with 18 kills and eight digs. Arvin Nitollama added 43 assists and 11 digs, and Ethan Hunt and Zachary Hewitt added 11 and 10 kills, respectively, for the Gators.
Bonanza 3, Durango 0 — At Bonanza, Josh Lee dished out 19 assists, and Andrew Jensen supplied 12 kills to lead the Bengals to a 25-16, 25-12, 25-15 sweep over the Trailblazers.
Kellen Layne had 10 kills, and Bronson Duckworth added seven aces for Bonanza, which got 11 assists from Alec Taylor.
Andre Shabazz provided 27 assists for Durango.
Shadow Ridge 3, Liberty 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Quinn Peterson had 23 kills and three blocks to lead the Mustangs to a 25-14, 25-13, 25-13 sweep of the Patriots.
Nathan Makaiwi dished out 34 assists, and A.J. Makaiwi supplied 14 digs for Shadow Ridge.
Mike Meatovich supplied four kills and two blocks for Liberty.
Legacy 3, Sierra Vista 0 — At Legacy, Braden Liu supplied 36 assists and six aces to propel the Longhorns to a 25-9, 25-14, 25-18 victory over the Mountain Lions.
Trent Compton provided eight kills, six aces and five digs for Legacy, which got 11 kills from Tanner Compton.
Julius Sison dished out 14 assists to lead Sierra Vista.
Arbor View 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Arbor View, Darien Bradley had 10 kills to help the Aggies to a 25-5, 25-10, 25-17 sweep of the Diamondbacks.
Darrell Swanson supplied eight kills and Chris Heron added 33 assists for Arbor View, which got 11 blocks from Kaneen Manuel.
Eldorado 3, Western 0 — At Eldorado, Jacob Tibbs had six kills and six aces to lead the Sundevils to a 25-14, 25-18, 25-9 sweep of the Warriors.
Dakota Shults added 11 kills for Eldorado, and teammate Michael Thomas supplied 35 assists.
Sky Tillmond led Western with three kills and three blocks.
Clark 3, Spring Valley 2 — At Spring Valley, the Chargers outlasted the Grizzlies, 16-25, 25-13, 22-25, 25-18, 15-6.
Bradd Robison had five kills and seven blocks for Spring Valley.
