VOLLEYBALL: Palo Verde grabs first place after defeating Legacy

Chandler Julifs had 21 kills and six digs, and Parker Nelson added 13 kills Tuesday to help Palo Verde’s boys volleyball team take over sole possession of first place in the Southwest League with a 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-13 win at Legacy.

Davis Wade had 18 digs, and Cole Wilson dished out 47 assists for the Panthers, who lead both Legacy and Shadow Ridge by one match with one match remaining in the regular season.

Zaire Franklin had 25 kills and 12 digs, and Anthony Delgado added 58 assists, 12 digs and two blocks for the Longhorns. Anthony Guevara had 14 kills and 15 digs, and Omari Wheeler supplied 10 kills and four blocks for Legacy.

Las Vegas 3, Valley 2 — At Las Vegas, Ryan Magante recorded 14 digs and 12 kills, and Luis Wong tallied 30 assists and 13 digs as the Wildcats outlasted the Vikings, 24-26, 25-20, 19-25, 25-14, 15-5.

Brandon Kampshoff had 12 kills and three aces, and Alli Stewart added 12 kills for Las Vegas, which tied Valley for first place in the Northeast League with one match left.

Alex Sandoval notched 32 assists and 16 digs, and Rodney Quito had 15 digs and eight kills for Valley, which also got 17 kills from Marty Heavey.

Shadow Ridge 3, Durango 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Cutler Leavitt had 13 kills and 13 digs to lead the Mustangs to a 25-18, 28-30, 25-21, 27-25 win over the Trailblazers.

N.J. Makaiwi had 42 assists and three aces, and Cody Heathcock added nine kills and two blocks for Shadow Ridge.

Jaylen Clark had 14 kills and 23 digs, and Frank Patricio added 10 kills and 20 digs for Durango. Andre Shabazz had 36 assists, 13 digs and four blocks, and Marc Viernes supplied 11 digs and two aces for the Trailblazers.

Silverado 3, Canyon Springs 1 — At Silverado, Cody Steckel supplied 40 assists and 11 digs to power the Skyhawks to a 25-18, 25-20, 30-28, 25-14 win over the Pioneers.

Tyler Gralapp notched 18 digs and 12 kills, and Paul Cote had 25 digs for Canyon Springs.

Edward Cromwell dished out 21 assists, and Maurice Hunter had 12 kills for Silverado, which got six kills and five digs from Gaspar Gonzalez.

Del Sol 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Blane Quitog tallied 11 assists and seven kills, and Kalai Ho added five kills, four aces and three digs as the Dragons swept the Jaguars, 25-22, 27-25, 25-12.

Jay Peete contributed six kills, two blocks and two aces for Del Sol.

Estanislao Lansangan had 20 assists, 12 digs and four kills to lead Desert Pines. Gohvanni Rincon tallied eight kills, four assists, two blocks and two digs, and DeAngelo Dixon supplied five kills for Desert Pines.

Chaparral 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Chaparral, Jose Chavez tallied nine kills, and Jonas Rivas had seven kills and four blocks to help the Cowboys sweep the Miners, 25-21, 25-8, 25-20.

Ashley Logan had 14 assists and two aces, and Salvador Mazana supplied six kills and three digs for Sunrise Mountain.
