VOLLEYBALL: Taylor, Zepeda direct Bonanza boys past Diamondbacks

Alec Taylor recorded 39 assists, and Manny Zepeda had 14 digs Tuesday to lift Bonanza’s boys volleyball team to a 29-27, 18-25, 26-24, 25-18 win at Desert Oasis.

Brian Clow added 11 digs and seven kills for the Bengals.

Saunoa Afoa registered 21 kills, and Nate Noor had 15 digs and seven kills for the Diamondbacks, who also got six kills and three blocks from Kodi Leslie.

Legacy 3, Cimarron Memorial 1 — At Cimarron, Tanner Compton had 14 kills and 14 digs to help lead the Longhorns to a 25-19, 25-13, 23-25, 25-13 win over the Spartans.

Braden Liu dished out 44 assists, and Zaire Franklin contributed 12 digs and 11 kills for Legacy.

Efrain Ambriz supplied seven kills and five digs, Nate Starlin provided eight digs, and Taylor Larsen had 19 assists to lead Cimarron.

Liberty 3, Del Sol 1 — At Liberty, Braden Cabias supplied 30 assists, and Damu Devoux spiked 13 kills as the Patriots downed the Dragons 13-25, 25-13, 25-20, 25-18.

Dennis Takahashi had 25 assists and six aces, and Jesse Brown registered 23 digs for Del Sol, which also got 15 kills from La’Akea Cabanas.

Centennial 3, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Gorman, Chet Durkin dished out 32 assists to lead the Bulldogs to a 26-24, 25-22, 25-17 win over the Gaels.

Blake Frischknecht put down 15 kills, and Hunter Stratton had 12 kills for Centennial.

Amadeus Sowa provided 12 kills and seven digs, and Cody Tom notched 31 assists to lead Gorman.

Foothill 3, Basic 0 — At Foothill, Kendell Andrews supplied 12 kills and six digs to lead the Falcons to a 25-15, 25-20, 25-20 sweep of the Wolves.

Chansten Chow notched 11 kills and five blocks, and Taeg Williams had 37 assists for Foothill, which got 15 digs from Jordan Primo.

Taylor Dyer had 17 assists, and Will Fitzpatrick contributed eight kills to lead Basic.

Coronado 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Logan Dickover dished out 20 assists, and Matt Pettit supplied 12 kills and three aces as the Cougars swept the Sundevils 25-22, 25-17, 25-13.

Tyler Cucullu had 12 kills and two aces, and Coltin Romney posted eight digs for Coronado.

Michael Thomas had 23 assists, and Dakota Schultz added five digs and five kills for Eldorado, which also got five kills and four blocks from Jacob Hollingsworth.

Tech 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Tech, Miguel Garcia had 24 assists and six digs, and Josh Wood compiled 10 digs, six kills, two assists and two aces as the Roadrunners swept the Miners 25-19, 25-13, 25-13.

Tyler Gardenhire contributed 12 kills and two digs, and Bryan Catenza supplied seven digs and five kills for Tech.

Chaparral 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Chaparral, Pierce Morgan had 24 assists and two kills, and Jesus Botello produced 12 digs and five aces to help the Cowboys sweep the Jaguars 25-20, 25-19, 25-21.

Dominic Carr added eight kills and four blocks for Chaparral.

Bryan Garcia had 18 digs, 16 assists and two aces, and Travis Nofoa supplied 12 kills for Desert Pines.
