VOLLEYBALL: Tech loses first set, rallies past Western

Collin Faught had 23 assists and one ace, and Devin Wade added seven kills and four blocks to rally Tech’s boys volleyball team to a 23-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-23 win over visiting Western on Friday.

Gary Johnson had eight kills and two blocks for the Roadrunners.

Anthony Dodson led Western with 14 kills.

Christian Macias had 21 assists, and Leonel Acosta-Trevizo added 11 assists for the Warriors, who also got six kills from Faibeone Simeus.

Bishop Gorman 3, Durango 0 — At Gorman, Will Hafen led all players with 15 kills as the Gaels defeated the Trailblazers, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16.

Hafen also recorded 11 digs, three aces, and three blocks.

Charles Pollnow had 13 kills, seven aces, nine digs, and two blocks, and Trevor Papock had 31 assists for Bishop Gorman.

Durango’s Andre Shabazz had 18 assists, and teammate Jaylen Clark added 10 kills and 11 digs.

Bonanza 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Bonanza, James Mead’s 28 assists and two aces led the Bengals past the Grizzlies, 25-12, 25-20, 25-17.

Paolo Luchs had 12 kills, three aces, and two blocks, and Mark Thuet had eight kills for Bonanza.

Syed Husain had 25 digs, and Joshua Hunt had 18 assists for Spring Valley.

Legacy 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Kaipo Butac-Mabry had four kills, three aces and two blocks to lead the Longhorns to 25-13, 25-21, 25-22 sweep of the Sundevils.

Richard Steacy had three kills, two aces and two blocks, and Matthew Cook dished out 17 assists with five aces and one kill for Legacy.

Luciano Ronquillo had three kills, three digs and two blocks to lead Eldorado.

Adrian Evans had one kill and four blocks, and Tim Lawson had five aces, three digs and one kill for the Sundevils.

Desert Oasis 3, Clark 0 — At Desert Oasis, Liam Morrissey had five kills and three blocks to lead the Diamondbacks past the Chargers, 25-10, 25-15, 25-15.

Tanner Mueller had eight kills, David Toole had six kills, and Joshua Sadama had three aces and dished out 17 assists for Desert Oasis.

Mojave 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Joseph Silva’s 12 kills led the Rattlers past the Miners, 25-12, 25-8, 25-8.

Juan Valdez recorded 22 assists, and Michael Jones and Daronde McKinney each had five kills for Mojave.

Del Sol 3, Chaparral 0 — At Del Sol, Alan Ramos-Flores had 24 assists, three kills and four aces to lead the Dragons to a sweep of the Cowboys, 25-17, 25-12, 25-17.

Joseph Snure had six kills for Del Sol, while Clinton Cavosora had eight digs.

Cheyenne 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Tyler Buchanan had 13 kills and four aces in the Desert Shields’ 25-18, 25-17, 25-14 win over the Jaguars.

Brian Orellana added 11 assists and three aces for Cheyenne.

Joshua Moran led Desert Pines with two kills, two aces and six digs. Leonel Rincon had one kill and four digs for the Jaguars.
