VOLLEYBALL: Wildcats outlast Vikings in five sets

T.J. Esporas had 23 kills and 12 digs, and Chris Kampshoff added 15 kills and 13 digs to help Las Vegas High’s boys volleyball team outlast visiting Valley 25-19, 21-25, 27-25, 23-25, 15-12 on Thursday.

Shayne Marquez had 60 assists and seven digs, and Guillermo Gonzalez supplied eight kills and two blocks for the Wildcats, who also got seven kills from Chris Marx.

Jack Heavey had 23 kills, 10 digs and two blocks, and Matt Ballaro contributed 20 kills and four digs for the Vikings.

Alex Sandoval added 61 assists and five digs, and Marty Heavey had seven kills, three blocks and four digs for Valley, which also got seven kills and two blocks from Zack Ross.

Green Valley 3, Silverado 1 — At Green Valley, Zachary Hewitt had eight kills and 12 digs to help the Gators to a 25-19, 25-19, 16-25, 25-20 win over the Skyhawks.

Chase Larson had seven kills and three blocks, and Ethan Hunt added five kills and four blocks for Green Valley.

Austin Hunt had 17 kills, and Cody Steckel supplied 26 assists and eight digs for Silverado, which also got 10 digs from Travis Houston.

Rancho 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Rancho, Aaron Robles had 25 assists and two kills to lead the Rams to a 25-14, 25-14, 25-16 win over the Pioneers.

Austin Moncrief added six kills and three blocks, and Montef Hargrove had six kills for Rancho.

Michael Winston led Canyon Springs with three kills.

Palo Verde 3, Sierra Vista 0 — At Palo Verde, Andrew Weston dished out 37 assists to propel the Panthers to a 25-15, 25-12, 25-22 win over the Mountain Lions.

Michael Simister had 10 kills, Greg Kinney added seven kills, and Parker Nelson put away six kills for Palo Verde.

Clyde Balagtas supplied 11 kills to pace Sierra Vista.

Shadow Ridge 3, Durango 0 — At Durango, Carter Johnson finished with 13 kills and two blocks as the Mustangs swept the Trailblazers, 25-13, 25-15, 25-21.

Jacob Ludwig added six kills and three blocks for Shadow Ridge.

Michael Diggins led Durango with eight kills. Andre Shabazz added 18 assists, and Frank Patricio and Dillon Lovera each recorded six blocks for the Trailblazers.

Arbor View 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Arbor View, Darrell Swanson led the Aggies with 13 kills, seven digs and four aces, and Chris Heron notched 33 assists in a 25-13, 25-14, 25-17 sweep of the Grizzlies.

Sam Buckels added seven kills and two digs, and Peter Peck recorded 15 digs for Arbor View.

James Nunez had five blocks for Spring Valley, and Kenny Tran supplied five digs. Nick Purser put down three kills for the Grizzlies.

Mojave 3, Tech 1 — At Tech, Jovan Carrazco had 42 assists and four blocks, and Jordan Glenn added 12 kills and five blocks as the Rattlers topped the Roadrunners, 25-18, 21-25, 25-14, 25-16.

Clayton Fontano had 10 kills and three assists, and Alex Carvalho recorded 10 kills for Mojave.

Joshua Wood finished with six kills and seven digs, and Miguel Garcia added six kills and two blocks to lead Tech.

Tyler Gardenhire had four kills and two blocks, and Brandon Finley notched seven digs for the Roadrunners.

Clark 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Walter Regalado dished out 19 assists to guide the Chargers to a 25-23, 26-24, 25-14 sweep of the Miners.

Walt Benda, Daniel Diaz-Villa and Jose Sahagun each supplied seven kills for Clark.

Chaparral 3, Western 0 — At Chaparral, Pierce Morgan recorded seven kills and five digs, and Jesus Botello added five aces and 10 digs as the Cowboys swept the Warriors, 25-9, 25-14, 25-11.

Armando Zarate contributed three aces, six digs and one kill for Chaparral.

Cheyenne 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, the Desert Shields were 25-15, 25-18, 25-23 winners over the Jaguars.
