Durango claims Silver in Las Vegas Invitational

Durango edged out a 27-25, 25-23 win over Centennial on Saturday to claim the Silver Division title in the Las Vegas Volleyball Invitational.
The Trailblazers went 3-0 in Friday's pool play and didn't lose a game during bracket play on Saturday. Durango defeated Lyman (Wyo.), 25-12, 25-19 in a quarterfinal match, then beat Sylmar (Calif.), 25-20, 25-18 in the semifinals.
Centennial, which also went 3-0 in pool play Friday, was a 25-20, 25-21 winner over Coronado in quarterfinal action and a 27-25, 25-16 winner over Bountiful (Utah) in a semifinal.
In the Gold Division, Green Valley won twice in bracket play before losing a 24-26, 25-15, 15-9 decision to Carson City in the semifinals. Douglas defeated Carson City in the championship match, 25-19, 26-24.
Green Valley defeated Bishop Gorman (25-23, 25-15) and Silverado (25-23, 27-25) in its first two bracket matches. Green Valley's Siga Applegate was the lone Southern Nevada player named to the all-tournament team.
Results of the Bronze and Copper Divisions were not available.
