GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Faith Lutheran takes down Centennial in five sets

Mary Vancura’s 40 assists helped the Faith Lutheran girls volleyball team edge visiting Centennial 25-20, 25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 15-7 on Thursday.

Sydney Washington had 13 kills and six blocks, and Elizabeth Tuls had 10 kills and two aces for Faith Lutheran.

Faith Lutheran’s Logan Van Reken had 22 digs, and teammate Tayah Washington added 16 digs.

For the Bulldogs, Talie Bonds had 24 assists, 21 digs, nine kills and two aces, and Kaysha Clark had 23 digs.

Centennial also received 23 assists and 12 kills from Natalie Starlin and 18 digs and 15 kills from Danyale Bonds.

Eldorado 3, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Eldorado, Samantha Voogd had 15 assists and four aces as the Sundevils edged the Miners, 25-19, 25-20, 25-13, 25-19, 15-11.

For Eldorado, Angela Valdez had five kills and two blocks, and Sierra Johnson had five aces and three assists.

Daniela Robledo-Toribio had 16 assists, seven aces and four kills, and Felicity Crandall had five aces, five digs and two kills to lead Sunrise Mountain. Natalie Jaramillo added seven kills for the Miners.

Kahuku (Hawaii) 3, Shadow Ridge 0 — At Shadow Ridge, the Mustangs fell to the Red Raiders, 25-24, 25-14, 25-20.

Stacey Hone had 10 kills for Shadow Ridge, and Braedyn Peters had 25 digs. They both had an ace.

Palo Verde 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Cimarron, Arien Fafard had 14 assists and four kills to lead the Panthers to a 25-12, 25-19, 28-26 sweep of the Spartans.

Mia Sadler supplied nine digs and six assists for Palo Verde, which also got five kills from Carli Tanner.

Alexandra Payan had 14 digs, Logan DeLong notched 11 assists and four kills, and Elise Young contributed six kills to lead Cimarron.

Silverado 3, Rancho 0 — At Rancho, Tehani Faitau dished out 37 assists to lead the Skyhawks to a 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 win over the Rams.

Sydney Berenyi added 24 kills, and Lydia Goebel had five kills for Silverado.

Karime Raygoza notched 15 digs and 11 kills for Rancho, which got 19 digs from Mia Suzuki.

Somerset-Sky Pointe 3, Adelson School 1 — At Adelson School, Elizabeth Gutierrez had six aces and six assists in the Lions’ 20-25, 25-23, 25-8, 25-22 loss.

Agassi Prep 0-2, Lincoln County 2-0 — At Agassi Prep, Lovely Glinton had 10 kills as the Stars swept the Lynx in the second game of a doubleheader, 25-14, 25-18.

Ayanna McClendon had four kills, Darayon Moore had eight digs, and Denise Parker dished out seven assists.

Glinton had three kills and three blocks as the Stars fell to the Lynx 25-22, 25-5 in the first game.

Moore had seven digs, while Parker had five assists for Agassi Prep.

Innovations International 3, Somerset-Losee 2 — At Somerset, the Lions were unable to hold a two-set lead and lost, 22-25, 14-25, 25-9, 25-19, 15-8.

Kathryn Howzell and Ariana Heath each had five aces, and Alexandria Wimberly added three aces for Somerset-Losee.
