Host Lake Mead downs Lund in tourney and league play
Jocelyn Cox dished out 18 assists Friday as host Lake Mead’s girls volleyball team defeated Lund, 25-14, 25-11 in the Lake Mead Fall Classic tournament.
Amanda Wellman had six kills, five aces and three digs for the Eagles. Heather Hillenbrand added five kills for Lake Mead.
Lake Mead 3, Lund 0 — Ashley Newton had 13 kills and four digs as the Eagles routed the Mustangs 25-7, 25-12, 25-12 in a Class 1A Southern League match played during the tournament.
Cox added 29 assists, seven aces and four kills for Lake Mead. Wellman had eight kills, seven aces and five digs, and Emma Khachikian added six aces.

Lake Mead 2, Laughlin 0 — Cox dished out 11 assists and served four aces as the Eagles downed the Cougars, 25-8, 25-15.
Wellman had nine aces, four digs and three kills for Lake Mead. Sam Herman added five kills, and Ashley Newton and Hillenbrand each had four kills and three digs for the Eagles.
Lund 2, Laughlin 0 — The Mustangs held off the Cougars, 25-17, 20-25, 16-14.
Boulder City 2, Indian Springs 0 — The Eagles were 25-14, 25-13 winners over the Thunderbirds.
Beatty 2, Indian Springs 0 — The Hornets posted a 25-18, 25-17 win over the Thunderbirds.
Henderson International 2, Lake Mead JV 0 — The Wolverines rolled to a 25-6, 25-6 victory against the Eagles’ junior varsity.
Calvary Chapel 2, Trinity 0 — Laura Perri had 10 assists and 10 aces to help the Lions down the Thunder, 25-15, 25-9.
Brettani Davis added five digs, four kills and four aces, and Eboni Brown had three kills and two digs for Calvary Chapel.
Pahrump Valley 2, Calvary Chapel 1 — The Trojans outlasted the Lions, 25-17, 23-25, 15-2.
Davis had 14 digs and five kills for Calvary Chapel. Perri added nine assists, five digs and two aces, and Brown had six digs and five kills.
Henderson International 2, Agassi Prep 0 — The Wolverines were 25-19, 25-21 winners over the Stars.
Pahrump Valley 2, Trinity 0 — The Trojans posted a 25-12, 25-9 win over the Thunder.
Agassi Prep 2, Lake Mead JV 0 — The Stars were 25-13, 25-19 winners against Lake Mead’s junior varsity.
Boulder City 2, Beatty 0 — The Eagles improved to 2-0 in the tournament with a 25-18, 25-15 victory over the Hornets.
