Coronado won the Class 5A girls volleyball state championship with a 3-0 victory over Reno on Saturday at Hug High School in Reno.

Coronado and Faith Lutheran were victorious in their Class 5A girls soccer state semifinals Friday to advance to the state title game at noon Saturday.
The Coronado and Bishop Gorman girls volleyball teams travel up to Reno for the Class 5A state volleyball tournament starting Friday.

The Coronado girls volleyball team swept Bishop Gorman to win the Class 5A Southern Region final Saturday at Palo Verde. Both teams advance to the state tournament.
Eldorado and Bishop Gorman will play for the Class 5A Southern Region title in boys soccer, and Arbor View advanced to the Class 4A girls volleyball state semifinals.
The Bishop Gorman volleyball team held off three fifth-set match points, and the Coronado and Faith Lutheran girls soccer teams earned overtime wins.
Bishop Gorman’s Nick Lazarski already had scored a first-half goal when he found himself with the ball with 10 minutes remaining in a 1-1 double-overtime game Tuesday.
Coronado junior volleyball player Abigail Paulson recorded 29 kills, five blocks and seven digs for the Cougars in two wins last week.
