ROUNDUP: Gorman girls outlast Faith Lutheran

Gianna Ruggeroli had 14 kills and nine digs, and Emma Filosi added 48 assists and three kills Friday as Bishop Gorman’s girls volleyball team overcame a six-point deficit in the fifth set to nip visiting Faith Lutheran, 14-25, 25-17, 25-22, 23-25, 21-19.

Emma Kirst had 13 kills and six blocks, and Alex Ruggero had 21 digs for Gorman, which trailed 11-5 in the deciding set.

Shelly Layman added 16 digs, and Francesca Manz had seven kills and four blocks for the Gaels, who got six blocks apiece from Sierra Scoggins and Anna Dondero.

Gianni Perryman had 53 assists and 14 digs, and Courtney Hansen supplied 20 kills and 15 digs to lead Faith Lutheran.

Sam Leonard had 11 kills, 11 digs, three aces and three blocks, and Taylor Richards added 18 digs and eight kills for the Crusaders, who got 10 kills from Taylor Hammer and 15 digs from Nicole Thompson.

Cheyenne 3, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Timirra Hearst had eight kills, four aces and four assists to lift the Desert Shields to a 25-23, 25-13, 17-25, 25-18 win over the Jaguars.

Jasmine Spurlock had four kills and 15 assists for Cheyenne.

Melissa Benford led Desert Pines with seven kills. Jazzmin Avalos had 15 assists and three aces for the Jaguars, and teammate Cynthia Zack had 17 digs.

Shadow Ridge 3, Liberty 0 — At Liberty, Olivia Denny had 19 assists and four aces as the Mustangs posted a 25-10, 25-14, 25-17 win over the Patriots.

Dana Christensen added nine kills and two blocks for Shadow Ridge.

Morgan Husli paced Liberty with 10 assists and six digs. Carina Gargarntos added six kills and two blocks, and Natalia Leilua had six digs for the Patriots.

Boulder City 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Boulder City, Avalon Frantz had 18 assists, nine aces and two kills to lead the Eagles to a 25-12, 25-11, 25-14 sweep of the Pioneers.

Kendall Miller had five aces and 13 digs for Boulder City, which got seven kills and seven aces from Mallory Bird and five kills from Mikaela Brown.

Emily Tuala led Canyon Springs with four kills and nine digs, and Summer Asturi had 10 digs for the Pioneers.

Lake Mead 2, Pahranagat Valley 0 — At Lake Mead, Megan Watkins had 17 assists, 13 digs and two kills to help the Eagles down the Panthers, 25-21, 25-23 in the Lake Mead Fall Classic.

Taylor Vetter had 12 kills and six digs, and Taylor Badua-Kono supplied 12 digs for Lake Mead, which got seven digs and two aces from Jenette Hensley.

Lake Mead 2, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Lake Mead, Vetter posted 10 kills and five digs in the Eagles’ 25-19, 25-16 win over the Trojans in the Lake Mead Fall Classic.

Watkins added 11 assists, three digs, and two kills, and Badua-Kono had nine digs for Lake Mead.

Calvary Chapel 2, Indian Springs 0 — At Lake Mead, Deja Harris had 14 kills and eight digs to help the Lions to a 25-22, 27-25 win over the Thunderbirds in the Lake Mead Fall Classic.

Brooke Davis added eight assists, five digs and four aces for Calvary Chapel, which got three kills from Maddy Sotelo and two kills from Jamie Mejia.

Calvary Chapel 2-2, Needles 0-0 — At Calvary Chapel, Davis had 15 assists, three kills and two digs in the opener and 10 assists and three aces in the nightcap as the Lions swept the Mustangs, 25-8, 25-11 and 25-11, 25-10.

Deja Harris had eight kills, and Alexis Harris added five kills in the opener for Calvary Chapel.
In the nightcap, Deja Harris had five kills.

The Meadows 2-2, Lincoln County 0-1 — At Panaca, Alex Hall had eight kills, 13 digs and two aces, and Victoria Onufrieff added 13 digs in the opening match as the Mustangs swept the Lynx, 25-20, 25-19 and 25-17, 18-25, 15-8.

Amber Peterson added three kills and five digs in the opener for The Meadows.

Hall had 16 digs, eight kills and two aces, and Onufrieff added 11 digs to pace the Mustangs in the nightcap. Nikki Lenardson had eight blocks, and Katie Magness supplied eight digs for The Meadows in the second match.
