ROUNDUP: Gorman girls sweep Centennial to clinch Southwest crown

Gianna Ruggeroli had 14 kills, and Emma Filosi added 42 assists and three kills Thursday to help Bishop Gorman’s girls volleyball team clinch the Southwest League title with a 25-17, 26-24, 25-19 sweep of visiting Centennial.

Emma Kirst and Francesca Mann each had 12 kills, and Sierra Scoggins added eight kills, four blocks and three aces for the Gaels.

Tiana Bonds had 11 kills, and Kristi Farley dished out 29 assists for the Bulldogs, who got nine digs from Nani Padilla.

Sunrise Mountain 3, Virgin Valley 2 — At Sunrise Mountain, Alex Martinez had 14 kills, four aces and two blocks as the Miners wrapped up the Sunrise League’s final playoff spot with a 23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 19-25, 15-12 win over the Bulldogs.

Jenae Yurek-Carhee had eight kills and four aces, and Imani Kroom provided 28 assists and six aces for Sunrise Mountain.

Nikki Arquette paced Virgin Valley with 20 assists, four kills, two aces and six digs, and teammate Alora Bonner had six kills and eight digs.

Eldorado 3, Del Sol 2 — At Del Sol, Alexis Vaquero and Sarah Kanet each had 10 kills and 14 digs as the Sundevils rallied for a 13-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-23, 17-15 win over the Dragons.

Haley Sosa had 23 digs, and Shelby Christensen added 30 assists, 12 digs and two kills for Eldorado.

Kaleileihua Cabanas paced Del Sol with 13 kills, 30 digs and six aces. Eugenia Petkovia spiked 15 kills, and Camille Santana had 21 digs for the Dragons.

Desert Oasis 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Desert Oasis, Tianna Jefferson racked up 18 assists, seven kills and six digs to lead the Diamondbacks to a 25-15, 25-21, 25-23 sweep of the Spartans.

Brooke Mazak had 11 kills and six digs, and Courtney Mazak added six kills and three digs for Desert Oasis.

Chalon Henderson had 12 kills, and Erica Padilla distributed 14 assists for Cimarron. Priscilla Bennett had six assists, and Sarah Lutjens supplied five digs for the Spartans.

Coronado 3, Basic 0 — At Coronado, Cali Thompson compliled 30 assists, six digs and five aces, and Lia Herlosky had nine kills and five digs in the Cougars’ 25-8, 25-13, 25-21 win over the Wolves.

Charlie Spietz had seven kills, and Berkeley Oblad had six kills for Coronado.

Leah Causey paced Basic with eight digs, five kills and four blocks. Tori Foutz had four blocks, two kills and two aces, and Sadie Espinoza posted six kills, two digs and two aces for the Wolves.

Bonanza 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Rykki Rudd had 11 kills, and Hayley Huntsman supplied 11 assists as the Bengals swept the Longhorns, 25-23, 25-9, 25-20.

Ellyn Hirabayashi had eight digs, and Sammie Spelman served four aces for Bonanza.

Emily Valerio had 10 assists and six digs, and Bianca Boyt added three kills and eight digs for Legacy. Quortney Baker-Judie had two kills and seven digs, and Meagan Knowles contributed two kills and five digs for the Longhorns.

Foothill 3, Liberty 0 — At Liberty, Zoe Wolfenbarger racked up 18 assists, nine kills and seven aces to help the Falcons to a 25-6, 25-19, 25-16 win over the Patriots.

Sarah Dusenbury had six kills and eight digs, and Emma Khachikian supplied six kills and five digs for Foothill.

Natalia Leilua had 11 assists and three kills for Liberty. Carina Gargantos contributed six kills and two blocks, and Reid Morgavi added 14 digs and two aces for the Patriots.

Palo Verde 3, Las Vegas 1 — At Las Vegas, Stephanie Herman compiled 45 assists, six digs, five kills and four aces, and McCall Phillips added 12 kills and 12 digs in the Panthers’ 20-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-16 win over the Wildcats.

Kendall Cheval added 12 kills, seven digs and five aces, and Jenna Bobroski had 10 kills and four aces for Palo Verde.

Matti Ventling led Las Vegas with 24 assists and four kills. Marissa Lair added 13 kills and 10 digs, and Charlai Francis had seven kills and five blocks for the Wildcats.

Boulder City 3, Chaparral 0 — At Boulder City, Avalon Frantz had 29 assists, nine aces and two blocks to lead the Eagles to a 25-14, 25-8, 25-12 sweep of the Cowboys.

Whitney Barlow had 10 kills, five blocks and two aces for Boulder City, which got eight kills and two blocks from Mallory Bird and eight kills from Mikaela Brown.

Moapa Valley 3, Tech 0 — At Overton, Shelbie Gray had 11 kills and three blocks to lead the Pirates to a 25-9, 25-6, 25-17 sweep of the Roadrunners.

Makenzie Bush had 12 kills for Moapa Valley, and teammate Bailey Owens served four aces.

Calvary Chapel 2-2, Mountain View 0-0 — At Calvary Chapel, Brooke Davis had 14 assists, four aces, three kills and three digs in the opener and 14 assists, four digs and two kills in the finale as the Lions clinched the Division III Southern League regular-season title with a 25-8, 25-18 and 25-9, 26-24 sweep of the Saints.

In the first match, Deja Harris had 13 kills and two blocks, and Athena Lewis added six aces and two digs for Calvary Chapel, which got four kills from Jamie Mejia.

In the nightcap, Harris had 11 kills, four digs and three blocks, and Lewis supplied three aces and three digs. McKenna Beckwith served four aces, and Kayla Johnson and Tiffany Ainsworth each chipped in four digs for Calvary Chapel.

Lincoln County 2-2, Agassi Prep 0-0 — At Agassi Prep, Elle Scott had 16 aces while serving 23 straight points in the second set of the nightcap to highlight the Lynx’s 25-11, 25-12 and 25-12, 25-2 sweep of the Stars.

Scott had three aces in the first match. Lincoln County’s Kaylee Teel had four kills in the first match and five kills in the second.

Tonopah 3, Sandy Valley 0 — At Sandy Valley, Deanna VanPoucke had nine kills, five aces and two digs as the Muckers cruised to a 25-7, 25-20, 25-4 sweep of the Sidewinders.

Pahranagat Valley 3, Beatty 0 —
At Alamo, the Panthers rolled to a 25-13, 25-16, 25-17 sweep of the Hornets.

Indian Springs 3, Round Mountain 0 — At Indian Springs, the Thunderbirds were 25-5, 25-11, 25-17 winners over the Knights.
