ROUNDUP: Lake Mead beats Pahranagat Valley to stay atop 1A Southern League

Ashley Newton had 17 kills, 20 digs and five aces, and Amanda Wellman added 10 kills, 19 digs and six aces Saturday to help Lake Mead's girls volleyball team down host Pahranagat Valley, 25-21, 25-17, 23-25, 25-20 in a battle for first place in the Class 1A Southern League.
 
Jocelyn Cox dished out 32 assists and had 11 digs and three kills for the Eagles, who improved to 23-4 overall and 7-0 in the 1A Southern League.
 
Sam Herman added four kills, four digs and four aces for Lake Mead. Heather Hillenbrand had five kills, and Emma Khachikian and Annabelle Liston each had seven digs for the Eagles.
 
Pahranagat Valley fell to 15-2, 5-1.
 
Round Mountain 3, Trinity 2—At Round Mountain, the host Knights rallied for a 25-20, 24-26, 24-26, 25-21, 15-12 win over the Thunder.
