ROUNDUP: Lake Mead outlasts Bonanza in pool play of Las Vegas Invitational

Amanda Wellman had 10 kills, four digs and three aces Friday to help Lake Mead’s girls volleyball team to a thrilling 25-12, 26-27, 15-13 win over Bonanza in pool play of the Las Vegas Invitational at Green Valley.
Ashley Netwon added seven kills and 13 digs and Jocelyn Cox 17 assists for the defending Class 1A state champion Eagles.
Lake Mead 2, Buhach Colony (Calif.) 1 — At Green Valley, Newton had 12 kills and 13 digs as the Eagles rallied for a 14-25, 27-26, 15-11 win.
Cox had 19 assists and five aces. Wellman added eight digs, seven kills and six aces, and Annabelle Liston and Sam Herman each had five digs.
Green Valley 2, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Green Valley, the host Gators posted a 25-22, 25-12 win in the Las Vegas Invitational.
Kelsey McCourt had 13 assists for the Crusaders. Alex Treadwell added five kills and Meagan Hauser five digs for Faith Lutheran.
Green Valley 2, Lake Mead 0 — At Green Valley, the Gators were 25-18, 25-16 winners over the Eagles in the Las Vegas Invitational.
Newton had seven digs and Liston six digs for Lake Mead.
Faith Lutheran 2, Buhach Colony (Calif.) 0 — At Green Valley, McCourt had 13 assists and eight digs to help Faith Lutheran to a 25-13, 25-17 win over Buhach Colony in the Las Vegas Invitational.
Hauser added seven kills and seven aces and Hayley Washinsky six kills for the Crusaders.
Henderson International 3, Lund 0 — At Henderson International, Pamela Sakuma had eight kills and four aces as the Wolverines opened the season with a 25-22, 25-19, 25-6 win over Lund.
Fabi Pachas and Lauren Mushkin each had six kills, with Mushkin also serving four aces, for Henderson International.
