ROUNDUP: Lions storm back to win Pahrump tournament

Brooke Davis registered 14 assists, 11 digs, four kills and two aces in the final match Saturday to lift Calvary Chapel’s girls volleyball team to a 24-26, 25-21, 16-14 win over Lake Mead in the championship of the Pahrump Valley Invitational.

Deja Harris added 12 kills and four digs, and Alexis Harris had seven digs and seven kills for the Lions, who also got five kills from Jamie Mejia.

Taylor Vetter paced Lake Mead with 10 kills and eight digs, and teammate Megan Watkins had 11 kills and 11 digs. Rachael Watkins had 12 digs, and Taylor Webb supplied eight digs and five kills for the Eagles.

Calvary Chapel 2, Lake Mead 0 — At Pahrump, Davis recorded 17 assists, eight digs, five kills and three aces as the Lions forced the final match with a 25-15, 25-21 win over the Eagles.

Deja Harris had nine kills, seven digs and two assists, and Alexis Harris contributed six kills and three digs. Kayla Johnson supplied four digs and two aces for the Lions.

Vetter had five kills and seven digs, and Watkins contributed seven assists and five digs for Lake Mead. Alexis Brule had four kills and five blocks for the Eagles.

Calvary Chapel 2, Tonopah 1 — At Pahrump, Deja Harris had nine kills, four digs and four blocks as the Lions downed the Muckers, 18-25, 25-20, 15-13 in a losers’ bracket match.

Davis had 16 digs, seven kills and seven assists, and Johnson supplied 10 digs and four assists for the Lions, who also got seven digs and four kills from Alexis Harris.

Lake Mead 2, Calvary Chapel 0 — At Pahrump, Megan Watkins had 15 assists and 11 digs, and Taylor Badua-Kono supplied 12 digs as the Eagles advanced in the tournament with a 25-20, 25-22 win over the Lions.

Vetter had 14 kills and seven digs, and Rachel Watkins added eight digs for Lake Mead.

Deja Harris had seven kills and two blocks, and Davis had nine digs and three aces for Calvary Chapel.

Calvary Chapel 2, Tonopah 1 — At Pahrump, Johnson posted 14 assists, six digs and two kills to help the Lions to a 24-26, 26-24, 15-3 win over the Muckers.

Deja Harris had 16 kills, four blocks and three digs, and Davis had 16 digs and four aces for Calvary Chapel. Athena Lewis had six digs, and Noelle Miller added four digs for the Lions, who got four kills from Alexis Harris.

Calvary Chapel 2, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Pahrump, Johnson dished out 15 assists as the Lions opened the day with a 26-24, 25-17 win over the Trojans.

Deja Harris added 15 kills and three blocks, and Lewis had five digs and three aces for Calvary Chapel, which got seven digs from Davis.

Faith Lutheran 2, Ponderosa (Calif.) 0 — At Reno, Gianni Perryman dished out 18 assists and had five digs to help the Crusaders take fifth place in the 36-team High Sierra Tournament with a 25-19, 25-22 win over Ponderosa.

Cayla Nikodemus and Taylor Hammer each had six kills, and Sam Leonard added five kills and three blocks for Faith Lutheran.

Faith Lutheran 2, Galena 0 — At Reno, Courtney Hansen had 10 kills, and Perryman added 22 assists and six digs to lift the Crusaders past the Grizzlies, 25-9, 25-21.

Hammer and Taylor Richards each had six kills for Faith Lutheran.

Homestead (Calif.) 2, Faith Lutheran 1 — At Reno, Homestead rallied for a 22-25, 25-14, 15-9 win over the Crusaders.

Perryman dished out 19 assists, and Hansen spiked eight kills for Faith Lutheran, which got six kills and four digs from Nikodemus.

St. Francis (Calif.) 2, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Reno, St. Francis posted a 25-17, 25-12 win over the Crusaders.

Megan Panikkar had eight assists for Faith Lutheran.
