ROUNDUP: Western girls hold off Canyon Springs

Destiny Gonzalez had five blocks, and Caplicia Pierce had three kills and three blocks to lead Western’s girls volleyball team to a 16-25, 26-24, 25-15, 23-25, 16-14 victory over host Canyon Springs on Wednesday.

Aleya Ford-Wheaton added two blocks and three aces, and Paea Savou had two kills and three aces for the Warriors.

Emily Tuala paced Canyon Springs with 10 kills. Tea Rivera added 11 assists, and Natasha Montano had six aces for the Pioneers, who got seven digs from Summer Asturi.

Liberty 3, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Liberty, Carina Gargarntos had 10 kills, and Morgan Husli dished out 18 assists as the Patriots topped the Miners, 25-18, 25-18, 15-25, 25-11.

Reid Morgavi had 11 digs, and Jazmin O’Bannon added six kills and three blocks for Liberty.

Jenae Yurek-Carhee paced Sunrise Mountain with eight kills and four aces, and teammate Imani Kroon had 12 assists and two aces.

Coronado 3, Silverado 0 — At Coronado, Cali Thompson had 37 assists and five aces to lead the Cougars to a 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 win over the Skyhawks.

Carolyn Andrulis had 12 kills and nine digs, and Lia Herlosky had 10 kills and nine digs for Coronado, which got 10 digs from Riley Lawrence.

Kayla Agae paced Silverado with 11 kills and 13 digs. Morgan Little added 18 assists and seven digs, and Quintana Reid added 11 digs for the Skyhawks, who got five blocks from Amari Norris.

Eldorado 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Eldorado, Abigail Allen had six aces, five kills and eight digs to help the Sundevils to a 25-10, 25-23, 25-20 sweep of the Jaguars.

Alexis Vaquero had 13 digs and seven aces, and Tori Stark contributed four kills and three blocks for Eldorado.

Jazzmin Avalos dished out 13 assists, and Cynthia Zack had 12 digs for Desert Pines. Melissa Benford spiked seven kills for the Jaguars.

Del Sol 3, Mojave 0 — At Del Sol, Kaleileihua Cabanas had 10 kills, seven digs and five aces, and Rudie-Armiza Soria-Bailey supplied 10 assists and four kills as the Dragons swept the Rattlers, 25-8, 25-12, 25-12.

Camille Santana had seven digs, four kills and two assists, and Jerica Barriere added seven assists and seven aces for Del Sol, which also got eight digs from Sierra Morales.

Durango 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Durango, Cheyanne Haas distributed 17 assists, and Gina Cervone spiked eight kills to send the Trailblazers past the Spartans, 25-16, 25-18, 25-13.

Precious Williams had seven kills, and Cayla Cooper added nine digs for Durango.

Sarina Creswell had six digs, two aces and two kills, and Priscilla Bennett added seven digs, three aces and two kills for Cimarron. Sarah Lutjens had six digs for the Spartans.

Basic 3, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, Victoria Foutz supplied nine kills and seven digs as the Wolves swept the Bulldogs, 25-13, 25-9, 25-21.

Lynsie Udall notched eight digs and five aces for Basic, which got seven kills from Leah Causey.

Alora Bonner had 11 kills and nine digs to lead Virgin Valley, which got eight digs and six aces from Nicole Arquette.

Pahrump Valley 3, Beatty 0— At Pahrump, Bryanna Soliwoda dished out 14 assists, and Makayla Davis had eight blocks as the Trojans swept the Hornets 25-14, 26-24, 25-18.

Breanna Gascoigne served four aces for Pahrump.

Melinda Gross had 11 kills, Christina Thompson tallied five digs and three kills, and Shankara Venezio supplied five digs for Beatty.
