VOLLEYBALL: Carino, Rams defeat Wildcats on the road

Danielle Carino recorded eight kills, 22 digs and four aces Wednesday to lead Rancho’s girls volleyball team to a 25-14, 23-25, 27-25, 25-17 victory over host Las Vegas.

Kayla Coles contributed four kills, seven aces and 20 digs for the Rams, who also got 11 kills and 13 digs from Karime Raygoza.

Las Vegas’ Samantha Remer had nine kills and 17 digs, and teammate Aileen Morales added eight kills and 13 digs.

Shadow Ridge 3, Cimarron-Memorial 1 — At Cimarron, Whitnee Nihipali had 17 kills and eight digs to help the Mustangs claim a 25-16, 25-12, 23-25, 25-19 victory over the Spartans.

Chloe Gruwell recorded 10 kills, 11 digs and two aces, and Eadara Files added 37 assists, 10 digs and two blocks for the Mustangs, who also got 36 assists from Caitlin Pascal.

Zaquae Downton led Cimarron with six kills, five digs and two aces, and teammate Breeana DeCoud added six kills and five digs.

Durango 3, Desert Oasis 1 — At Durango, Carly Taylor had eight kills, four aces and 24 digs to help the Trailblazers to a 25-15, 19-25, 25-13, 25-18 win over the Diamondbacks.

Gisselle Roldan had eight kills and eight digs, and Danielle Smith had six kills, three aces and nine digs for Durango.

Ariel Blockovich paced Desert Oasis with six kills, 21 assists, three aces and seven digs. Kaia Rhodes added five kills and two blocks, and Lauren Rios supplied 13 digs for the Diamondbacks.

Faith Lutheran 3, Spring Valley 1 — At Spring Valley, Megan Kronschnabel finished with 50 assists and two aces, and Cayla Nikodemus tallied 20 kills and six digs as the Crusaders downed the Grizzlies, 25-10, 25-10, 22-25, 25-16.

Morgan Hill added 11 kills and three aces, and Hayley Vinson supplied seven kills and two aces for Faith Lutheran.

Jessica Rafay had 10 digs and nine kills and Courtney Lance tallied nine digs and seven kills for Spring Valley, which also got eight digs and six kills from Casey Van Hoose.

Mojave 3, Clark 0 — At Clark, Alexis Fetui had 11 kills, 10 aces and seven digs, and Shyanne Orton added eight kills as the Rattlers swept the Chargers, 25-14, 25-19, 25-16.

RayEna Rael notched 26 assists, and Leilani Limtiaco chipped in with six kills and six digs for Mojave.

Neelee Brauner paced Clark with six kills and two blocks, and teammate Angel Jamerson had 15 assists.

Cheyenne 3, Western 1 — At Cheyenne, Esther Durr had seven kills, five aces and five blocks to power the Desert Shields to a 23-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-16 win over the Warriors.

Ebony Cavaco added eight kills, 11 assists and four aces for Cheyenne.

Western’s Destiny Gonzalez had six kills, and teammate Capricia Pierce added four kills.

Sierra Vista 3, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Pahrump, Bailey Bergquist put away 20 kills, and Kira Felise finished with 33 assists to help the Mountain Lions to a 25-12, 21-25, 25-23, 25-14 victory over the Trojans.

Sydney Land added eight kills and five blocks for Sierra Vista.

Alexis Trieb had a team-high eight kills, and Jill Smith had seven kills and eight assists for Pahrump Valley, which also got five aces from Taylor Kingsley.

Adelson School 3, Word of Life 1 — At Adelson School, Camryn Armstrong and Mackenzie Lally each had seven kills to lead the Lions to a 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22 win over the Eagles.

Sydney Spooner added six kills, and Tamar Tecktiel and Samantha Spooner dished out 15 assists apiece for Adelson School.
