VOLLEYBALL: Cougars overcome early hole, top Mustangs

Cali Thompson had 35 assists, five digs and three aces Tuesday to help Coronado’s girls volleyball team to a 24-26, 25-23, 25-14, 25-20 victory over host Shadow Ridge.

Ali Hauck helped Coronado with 12 kills, and teammate Emily Bender added eight kills and seven aces.

Ashley Smith had 18 kills, 18 digs and three service aces to lead Shadow Ridge. Olivia Denny added 25 assists, and Kelsey Rodman had 20 digs for the Mustangs, who also got 10 kills from Easton Clements.

Cheyenne 3, Valley 1 — At Cheyenne, Bria Buchanan finished with 11 kills and six blocks, and Ebony Cavaco added 21 assists as the Desert Shields topped the Vikings, 25-18, 25-21, 16-25, 25-22.

Endia Mack added seven kills and five aces for Cheyenne.

Gabby Cabanero led Valley with 15 kills, 12 digs and five aces. Taylor Sandhu had 29 assists, four digs and two aces, and Ashley Abernathy chipped in with 24 digs and six aces for the Vikings.

Green Valley 3, Foothill 0 – At Green Valley, Alley Seidler dished out 29 assists to help the Gators to a 25-16, 25-18, 25-16 sweep over the Falcons.

Shanna Olsen supplied 12 kills and 11 digs, and Bridgette Dwyer added six kills for Green Valley.

Sarah Dusenbury posted 12 digs, Olivia Stet had 11 digs, and Indoneisha Struve notched five kills for Foothill.

Palo Verde 3, Las Vegas 0 — At Palo Verde, Stephanie Herman had 25 assists, and Faryn Duncan added 13 digs to lead the Panthers in a 26-24, 25-18, 25-17 sweep over the Wildcats.

McCall Phillips and Lexi Riggs both notched seven kills for Palo Verde.

Matti Ventling paced Las Vegas with 16 assists, 10 digs, five blocks and two kills. Shaleea Butler had seven kills and 15 digs, and Charlai Francis supplied seven kills and five blocks for the Wildcats.

Centennial 3, Silverado 0 — At Centennial, Tiana Bonds put down 18 kills to help the Bulldogs to a 25-19, 25-22, 25-12 sweep over the Skyhawks.

Kristi Farley supplied 32 assists, six aces and five kills, and Madison Harper finished with 12 digs for Centennial, which also got nine kills from Taylor Hartle.

Morgan Little dished out nine assists for Silverado. Amari Norris and Melanie Srok chipped in with six kills each.

Durango 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Cimarron, Precious Williams had seven aces, six digs and five kills to help the Trailblazers cruise past the Spartans, 25-11, 25-11, 25-11.

Sabrina Close helped Durango with 14 assists, and teammate Trea Ortega added 15 digs.

Katie Curran logged two kills for Cimarron.

Desert Oasis 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, the Diamondbacks swept the Pioneers, 25-8, 25-17, 25-16.

Canyon Springs’ Sydney Morris had six kills, and teammate Tea Rivera dished out six assists.

Sierra Vista 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Kira Felise recorded 18 assists, and Maeganne Cabias added 18 digs to lead the Mountain Lions to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 sweep over the Longhorns.

Sydney Land added seven kills and four blocks for the Mountain Lions.

Emily Valerio had five kills for Legacy.

Bonanza 3, Rancho 0 — At Bonanza, Sophie Cram had 10 kills and four blocks, and Hailey Hunstman distributed 22 assists as the Bengals swept the Rams, 28-26, 25-16, 25-16.

Ellyn Hirabayashi had nine digs for Bonanza.

Danielle Carino led Rancho with six kills. Jordan Williams added three kills and four blocks, and Samantha Pochop had four aces and two blocks for the Rams.

Western 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Yatzi Carranza had five kills, three blocks and three aces in the Warriors’ 25-16, 25-21, 25-18 sweep over the Sundevils.

Destiny Gonzalez added four kills and five blocks, and Paea Sovou served six aces for the Warriors.

Dakota Coombs led the Sundevils with 12 assists, and Angela Stoneback recorded eight kills.

Clark 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Clark, Emi Atanoa had 13 kills, 13 aces and two blocks to help the Chargers roll past the Jaguars, 26-24, 25-18, 25-11.

June Roberts had six kills and five aces to help Clark, and teammate Angel Jamerson added 15 assists.

Lake Mead 3, Laughlin 1 — At Laughlin, Natalie Jankkowski had 13 kills, and Shannon Regan supplied nine kills, four aces and three digs as the Eagles earned a 20-25, 25-12, 25-16, 25-14 win over the Cougars.

Taylor Webb had 13 digs and six aces, and Rachael Watkins added 26 assists and five digs for Lake Mead, which got 14 digs and three aces from Jenette Hensley.

Pahranagat Valley 3, Adelson School 0 — At Alamo, the Panthers swept the Lions, 25-7, 25-15, 25-9.

Baker (Calif.) 3, Sandy Valley 2 — At Sandy Valley, Baker rallied for a 25-21, 21-25, 16-25, 25-14, 15-12 win over the Sidewinders.
