VOLLEYBALL: Garlick, Oblad help Coronado top Centennial

Brooke Garlick had 12 kills, four aces and two blocks, and Berkeley Oblad added 11 kills, four aces and two blocks on Friday to help Coronado’s girls volleyball team to a 25-15, 25-19, 20-25, 26-24 win over visiting Centennial.

Cali Thompson had 40 assists, four kills and three aces, and Carolyn Andrulis chipped in seven kills, four aces and two blocks for the Cougars.

Cydni Long had 10 kills, five digs, two blocks and two aces, and Kristi Farley supplied 33 assists, four kills, four aces and eight digs to lead the Bulldogs. Tiana Bonds had 11 kills, and Cristina Owens added nine kills and two blocks for Centennial.

Cheyenne 3, Virgin Valley 2 — At Mesquite, Esther Durr had six kills and five blocks as the Desert Shields rallied for a 23-25, 21-25, 25-12, 25-16, 15-11 win over the Bulldogs.

Alyceion McDowell served seven aces, and Ebony Cavaco dished out 19 assists for Cheyenne.

Calvary Chapel 2-2, Lincoln County 0-0 — At Calvary Chapel, Deja Harris had eight kills, four blocks and three aces in the opener and 12 kills and four blocks in the nightcap as the Lions swept the Lynx, 25-13, 25-15 and 25-17, 25-18.

Brooke Davis had eight assists, three aces and five digs in the opener and 17 assists in the nightcap, and Allison Brown provided seven digs in the second match for Calvary Chapel.

Kaitlin Cheeney had six digs and two assists in the first match and eight digs and two assists in the finale to pace Lincoln County, which got four kills and four digs in the opener and two kills and five digs in the second match from Kaylee Teel.

Lake Mead 0-2, Needles 2-0 — At Needles, Calif., Shannon Regan had three kills, three aces and two digs to help the Eagles win the nightcap, 25-17, 25-16 and salvage a split of the two matches with the Mustangs.

Natalie Jankowski had three kills, and Alayna Lippert served five aces in the finale for Lake Mead, which also got seven assists from Rachael Watkins and 12 digs from Savannah Schmidt in the second match.

Needles won the opener, 25-23, 25-22. Jankowski had four kills and two dis, and Schmidt added three kills and 10 digs for Lake Mead, which got 12 assists from Watkins.

Faith Lutheran 2, Mesquite (Ariz.) 1 — At Phoenix, Courtney Hansen had 11 kills and seven digs as the Crusaders earned a 25-21, 19-25, 15-9 victory over Mesquite in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Morgan Hill had nine kills and three blocks, and Megan Panikkar dished out 17 assists for Faith Lutheran, which got 14 assists from Megan Kronschnabel.

Faith Lutheran 2, St. Paul (Calif.) 0 — At Phoenix, Cayla Nikodemus had nine kills, and Kronschnabel added 15 assists as the Crusaders swept St. Paul, 25-17, 25-21 in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Hill had seven kills and three aces, and Hansen supplied seven kills for Faith Lutheran.

Faith Lutheran 2, Brighton (Utah) 0 — At Phoenix, Hansen spiked eight kills, and Kronschnabel and Panikkar each had eight assists as the Crusaders completed a perfect trip through pool play with a 25-17, 25-17 win over Brighton in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Hill had five kills, and Nicole Thompson added six digs for Faith Lutheran.

Bishop Gorman 2, St. Joseph’s Academy (Mo.) 1 — At Phoenix, the Gaels were 25-23, 16-25, 16-14 winners over the Angels in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Bishop’s School (Calif.) 2, Bishop Gorman 1 — At Phoenix, Bishop’s School was a 17-25, 25-16, 15-5 winner over the Gaels in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Hamilton (Ariz.) 2, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Phoenix, Hamilton swept the Gaels, 25-18, 26-24 in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Indian Springs 3, Beatty 1 — At Indian Springs, the Thunderbirds rallied for a 24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 26-24 win over the Hornets.

Tonopah 3, Adelson School 0 — At Tonopah, the Muckers were 25-14, 25-16, 25-17 winners over the Lions.

Lund 3, Sandy Valley 0 — At Sandy Valley, the Mustangs posted a 25-23, 25-17, 25-12 win over the Sidewinders.
