VOLLEYBALL: Nihipali, Mustangs sweep Gorman to claim Southwest title

Whittnee Nihipali had 15 kills, 13 digs and two aces Thursday to help Shadow Ridge's girls volleyball team clinch its second consecutive Southwest League title with a 28-26, 26-24, 25-23 sweep of visiting Bishop Gorman.

Eadara Files had nine kills, eight blocks and 27 assists, and Jacqui Yapching added three aces and 12 digs for Shadow Ridge.

Vashti Cunningham put down 15 kills for Gorman. Abbey Archambault had 11 kills, and Paige Poggione notched six kills and two blocks for the Gaels, who also got 38 assists from Sydney Lobato.

Palo Verde 3, Legacy 1 — At Palo Verde, Kayla Kinney had 20 kills and 19 digs to lead the Panthers by the Longhorns, 25-10, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23.

Emma Gutierrez contributed 35 assists and 14 digs for Palo Verde. Virgina Rallo had 27 digs, and teammate Aaliah Largusa put down 11 kills for the Panthers.

Saipeto Fuiava led Legacy with 11 kills, 18 digs and two aces. Kamaile Mendosa had 35 assists, 10 digs and two aces, and Mia Suzuki notched 29 digs for the Longhorns, who got eight kills from Myah Maxwell.

Coronado 3, Green Valley 0 — At Green Valley, Cali Thompson had five kills, eight digs, four blocks and 34 assists to lead the Cougars over the Gators, 25-12, 25-14, 25-8.

Nikki Jackson had seven kills and four blocks, and Carolyn Andrulis added 13 kills for Coronado, which also got seven kills from Navi Lee.

Julia Carlson led Green Valley with three kills and three blocks. Carlee Becker dished out 13 assists, and Grace Hannum had three kills and two digs for the Gators.

Rancho 3, Basic 1 — At Rancho, Kayla Coles had 20 kills, two aces and nine digs, and Karime Raygoza added 15 kills to lift the Rams by the Wolves, 22-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-20.

Serenity Sivongsa notched 21 assists, three aces and eight digs, and Shaye Robles had 16 assists, two aces and eight digs for Rancho.

Serenity Lomprey led Basic with 10 kills and five digs. Mercedes Gerken put down seven kills, and Skylar Robbins dished out 23 assists for the Wolves.

Foothill 3, Eldorado 0 — At Foothill, Courtney Nilson had four kills and six aces, and Alyssa McCoy put down eight kills to lead the Falcons to a 25-6, 25-11, 25-11 win over the Sundevils.

Tessa Michalosky notched five kills and two aces, and Alyssa Neal contributed five assists and four aces for Foothill.

Faith Lutheran 3, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Sydney Washington had nine kills, and Bobbi Tharaldson added seven kills as the Crusaders swept the Rattlers, 25-15, 25-14, 25-18.

Megan Kronschnabel dished out 25 assists, and Logan Van Reken notched 10 digs for Faith Lutheran.

Leilani Limtiaco led Mojave with six kills and nine digs. Yasmit Sanchez recorded five kills and five blocks, Michelle Hernandez had 12 digs, and Sua Estrada contributed 16 assists for the Rattlers.

Sunrise Mountain 3, Chaparral 2 — At Chaparral, the Miners outlasted the Cowboys, 16-25, 13-25, 25-16, 25-19, 15-5.

Jessica Joiner led Chaparral with 11 kills and three aces. Alexandria Williams had five kills and four blocks, Alyssa Porras added seven kills, and Kayla Dusenbery served seven aces for the Cowboys, who also got 23 assists from Jacitee Panon.

Moapa Valley 3, Boulder City 2 — At Overton, Eden Whitmore had 14 kills and 11 blocks to help the Pirates rally from two sets down and defeat the Eagles, 21-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-10.

Kyla Shumway had 11 kills, and Lindsey Erikson served five aces for Moapa Valley, which got 42 assists from Aria Messer.

Virgin Valley 3, Tech 0 — At Tech, Emma Barnum had 10 kills and 19 digs, and Bernice Fiso added 10 kills and 13 digs as the Bulldogs swept the Roadrunners, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16.

Kaydee Bingham added seven kills, and Janella Fiso dished out 26 assists for Virgin Valley.

Katherine Hernandez paced Tech with nine kills and 10 digs. Elizabeth Ortega added nine assists and nine digs, and Jasmine Ramos had 16 digs for the Roadrunners.

Lincoln County 2-2, Agassi Prep 0-0 — At Panaca, Chesnee Harding had 14 assists, 15 digs and four aces in the opener, and 14 assists and six digs in the nightcap as the Lynx swept the Stars, 25-9, 25-17 and 25-6, 25-15.

In the first match, Bridon Lewis had seven kills, three blocks and three digs, and Easton Tingey had three kills, three assists, two aces and seven digs for Lincoln County, which got five kills and five digs from Hannah Hafen.

In the finale, Tingey had five assists, five digs and three aces, and Lewis had four kills and three digs for Lincoln County. Cameron Lloyd and Brooklyn Hafen added four kills apiece for the Lynx.

Beatty 3, Indian Springs 1 — At Indian Springs, the Hornets were 25-21, 23-25, 26-24, 25-23 winners over the Thunderbirds.

Sandy Valley 3, Word of Life 0 — At Sandy Valley, the Sidewinders were 25-15, 25-20, 25-12 winners over the Eagles.
