VOLLEYBALL: Ortega’s big night helps Trailblazers rally past Grizzlies

Trea Ortega had 23 kills and 25 digs, and Precious Williams chipped in 14 kills and 22 digs Monday to lead Durango’s girls volleyball team to a 20-25, 25-21, 25-19, 20-25, 15-13 win at Spring Valley.

Sabrina Close added 33 assists and six digs, and Cayla Cooper had four aces and 13 digs for the Trailblazers.

Nicole Rafay had 17 kills and five blocks, and Courtney Lance added eight kills and 10 blocks to lead the Grizzlies. Rachel Milam supplied 10 kills and nine digs, and Danielle Lopez added five kills and seven blocks for Spring Valley, which got 18 digs from Hannah Karas and nine kills from Jessica Rafay.

Liberty 3, Del Sol 0 — At Liberty, Roza Allen had seven kills and two aces, and Morgan Husli added three kills and 13 assists as the Patriots topped the Dragons, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18.

Reid Morgavi had eight kills, and Sage Melchoir added nine assists for Liberty.

Taylor Curtis had nine kills, and Azhwalaee Oliver supplied four kills, 13 digs and three aces for Del Sol, which got 16 digs from Sierra Morales.

Shadow Ridge 3, Sierra Vista 0 — At Sierra Vista, Ashley Smith had 17 kills to help the Mustangs to a 25-19, 25-19, 25-13 sweep of the Mountain Lions.

Olivia Denny added 32 assists and six digs for Shadow Ridge.

Bailey Bergquist had nine kills and 16 digs, and Bridgette Levi supplied seven kills and four digs for Sierra Vista.

Foothill 3, Basic 0 — At Foothill, Sarah Dusenbury had 14 kills, seven digs and three blocks to lead the Falcons to 25-16, 26-24, 25-13 win over the Wolves.

Christina Beaver recorded 36 assists and two kills, and Korina Bush added four aces and 11 digs for Foothill, which also received six kills and three blocks from Nicolette Brown.

Basic’s Christina Kelley notched 21 assists, five digs and three blocks. Kali Weires added 13 kills and five digs, and teammate Kawena Sheehan had 13 digs for Basic.

Chaparral 3, Tech 0 — At Chaparral, Hannah Kirschbaum had six kills, six aces and six digs to lead the Cowboys to a 25-14, 25-16, 25-20 win over the Roadrunners.

Carminda Greenstone had four aces and nine digs, and Monica Ramirez added six digs for Chaparral.

Kathy Hernandez had eight kills, and Haylee Holsclaw and Kaylee Holsclaw each added three kills for Tech.

Palo Verde 3, Arbor View 0 — At Palo Verde, Stephanie Herman had 17 assists, four aces, three kills and three digs as the Panthers collected a 25-14, 25-10, 25-9 sweep over the Aggies.

McCall Phillips added eight kills, seven digs and two aces, and Kendall Cheval supplied 11 kills and six digs for Palo Verde, which got 14 digs from Faryn Duncan.

Boulder City 3, Moapa Valley 0 — At Boulder City, Whitney Barlow had 15 kills and five aces to lead the Eagles to a 25-20, 25-14, 25-22 win over the Pirates.

Kendall Miller had four kills and 12 assists, and Kinsey Smith contributed four kills and two blocks for Boulder City, which got four aces from Kaylin Koltyerhan.

Coronado 3, Eldorado 0 — At Coronado, Cali Thompson had 22 assists and five aces, and Brooke Garlick added 10 kills and two aces as the Cougars rolled to a 25-6, 25-1, 25-6 win over the Sundevils.

Nikki Jackson had eight kills and two aces, and Sydney Hauck served four aces for Coronado.

Bishop Gorman JV 3, Lake Mead 0 — At Gorman, the Gaels junior varsity was a 25-22, 25-22, 26-24 winner over the Eagles.

Shannon Regan had eight kills, two digs and two blocks, and Savannah Schmidt added five kills and 11 digs for Lake Mead, which got four kills and two digs from Natalie Jankowski.

Virgin Valley 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, the Bulldogs rolled to a 25-8, 25-14, 25-21 sweep of the Jaguars.

Adelson School 3, Liberty Baptist 0 — At Adelson, the Lions swept the Eagles 25-19, 25-21, 29-27.
