VOLLEYBALL: Virgin Valley cruises past Miners

Janella Fiso had 20 assists, six aces and two kills Saturday to help Virgin Valley’s girls volleyball team to a 25-14, 25-19, 25-19 win at Sunrise Mountain.
Bernice Fiso and Emma Barnum each had eight kills, and Kaydee Bingham added five kills for the Bulldogs.
Vanessa Amaya had 12 assists and five aces, and Ayla Diaz added six kills for the Miners, who got four kills from Tre’Licia Quinn.
The Meadows 2-2, Laughlin 0-0 — At The Meadows, Brooke Brennan had eight kills, three aces and 13 digs in the opener and five kills and five digs in the nightcap as the Mustangs swept the Cougars, 25-17, 25-14 and 25-11, 25-7.
Dani Otter added four kills, six aces and seven digs, and Missy Siegel dished out 16 assists in the first match for The Meadows, which also got four kills and seven digs from Alex Rimoldi.
In the second match, Otter had three kills and seven digs, and Kaitlyn Oder added three kills and four digs for the Mustangs. Siegel had 12 assists, and Hannah Mulholland supplied four aces and four digs for The Meadows.
Sandy Valley 3, Tonopah 0 — At Sandy Valley, the Sidewinders swept the Muckers, 25-12, 25-16, 25-20.
Indian Springs 3, Quest Academy 1 — At Indian Springs, the Thunderbirds were 25-3, 25-15, 22-25, 25-15 winners over the Knights.
