DIVISION III WRESTLING: Spring Mountain captures league title

Zyon Butler and Jermained Leavy each recorded pins in less than a minute in championship matches to help Spring Mountain's wrestling team win the Division III Southern League title in West Wendover on Saturday.

Butler won the 170-pound title, pinning Laughlin's William Stevens in 39 seconds in the title.

Leavy took the 120-pound title with a fall over Pahranagat Valley's Oscar Heredia in 47 seconds.

Anthony Martinez (106) and Fred Stevenson (285) also won titles for the Golden Eagles, who had a team score of 228 points. Lincoln County was second with 151, followed by West Wendover with 125. Agassi Prep and White Pine both had 105.

Lincoln County had three champions: Zachary Rowe (126), Derek Mathews (138) and Will Culverwell (152).

Agassi Prep was the only other school with more than one champion as Kiahra Burns (113) and Torian Ross (195) won titles.

The top four finishers in each weight class advance to the state tournament next Saturday at Primm.
