Heavyweight Martinez helps Miners to two wins at Indian Springs

Jose Martinez won three matches at 285 pounds Tuesday to help Sunrise Mountain’s wrestling team to a 2-1 record in the Indian Springs Quadrangular meet.

Martinez collected pins in 30 seconds and 3:02, and won a match by forfeit.

Arbor View’s junior varsity went 3-0, defeating Indian Springs (60-24), Spring Mountain (78-6) and Moapa Valley (40-30).

The Miners were 60-6 winners over Spring Mountain and 42-39 winners over Indian Springs, but dropped a 45-30 decision to Moapa Valley.

Moapa Valley finished 2-1, also defeating Indian Springs, 54-24.

Spring Mountain was a 48-30 winner over Indian Springs.

The host Thunderbirds’ Troy Heath (145) and Dakota Sargent (152) each went 4-0.
