Roundup: Valley sneaks by Rancho

Valley’s Xzavier Maheia pinned his opponent at 138 pounds with 13 seconds remaining in the third period Thursday to help the Vikings’ wrestling team edge visiting Rancho, 40-36.

Valley’s Martin Lujan (120 pounds), Joseph Valencia (145), John Baloyot (195) and Keayon Morris (220) won by fall, and Misael Gonzalez (152) won by a 20-5 technical fall.

Christian Packer (132) had the lone pin for the Rams, who won five matches by forfeit.

Pahrump Valley 40, Mojave 33 — At Mojave, Dylan Grossell won his 138-pound match with 17 seconds remaining in the match to lead the Trojans over the Rattlers.

Isaak Cruz (132), Dylan Grossell (138), Dylan Wright (145), Tristan Maughan (152) and Morgan White (220) won by fall for the Trojans.

Mojave’s Michael Mota (113), Joseph Lojero (126), Sebastian James (170) and Ivan Parra (285) won by pin.

Spring Valley 48, Bishop Gorman 30 — At Spring Valley, the Grizzlies won seven matches by fall to defeat the Gaels.

Ryan Mitchell (106), Andres Garcia (132), Daniel Hristov (138), Brisean Cunningham (145), Gerardo Mendoza (152), Porter Abbott (195) and Tzadeek Yehudah (220) each posted a pin for Spring Valley.

Gorman’s Anthony Veltri (126), Gavin Brenkus (160) and Joey Mazzara (170) also won by fall.

Shadow Ridge 61, Palo Verde 18 — At Shadow Ridge, Triston Curtis (120), Matthew VanRield (132) and Tano Pascual (145) each posted first-period pins to lead the Mustangs over the Panthers.

Tehani Soares (113), Jake Anderson (138), Kody Presser (152), Noah Gallardo (160) and Marc Williams (170) also won by fall for Shadow Ridge.

Jonathan Carpenter (220) won by pin in 32 seconds for Palo Verde.

Cimarron-Memorial 60, Faith Lutheran 18 — At Faith Lutheran, the Spartans won six matches by pin to beat the Crusaders.

Connnor Bourne won by pin at 182 for Faith Lutheran.

Cheyenne 72, Sunrise Mountain 12 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Desert Shields won 12 matches by forfeit in their match against the Miners.

The Miners won both the contested matches by fall: Alex Herrera (170) and Jose Lara (285).

Chaparral 60, Del Sol 21 — At Chaparral, Michael Garcia (106), Marvin Sharp (138) and Francisco Escoto (160) each posted a first-period pin to help the Cowboys defeat the Dragons.

Mark Gonzalez (132), Jaylen Whitfield (170) and Brian Hernandez (195) also won by fall for Chaparral.

Del Sol’s Matthew Valenzuela (220) and Noah Lytle (285) had pins for Del Sol.
