ROUNDUP: Vance’s three pins fuel Falcons’ sweep

Foothill heavyweight James Vance won three matches by pin in the first period Thursday to lead the host Falcons’ wrestling team to a 49-27 win over Durango, a 39-33 victory over Legacy and a 67-12 win over Sunrise Mountain.

Vance ended his three matches in 43 seconds, 59 seconds and 1:30.

Stephen Thomas (126 pounds) and Tyler Holdren (182) each went 3-0 with two pins apiece for Foothill.

Legacy 43, Sunrise Mountain 33 — At Foothill, Austin Evans picked up a pin in 1:00 at 152 pounds to help the Longhorns pull away from the Miners.

Legacy won seven contested matches, including four by pin.

Ryan Casino (138) earned an 8-5 win to lead Sunrise Mountain.

Durango 45, Sunrise Mountain 30 — At Foothill, the Trailblazers won seven matches by pin, and only lost two contested matches en route to a win over the Miners.

Steven Porter (220) won by pin in 39 seconds for Sunrise Mountain.
